R I X E N Kiada nodded, and with a genuine smile agreed to spread hope to Unwaritace next. My gaze shifted back to the Matron to see if she had any more to say before we were on our way again. Instead of meeting mine, however, the Matron's eyes moved over my shoulder, focused on something - someone else. Turning my antlered head to see what the subject of her fixation was, a strange creature approaching where we stood came into view. His hide was sleek and ebon-hued. Gleaming from the sockets in his skull were eyes as black as night shadows on deep waters. Black was an underestimated color - it was the absence of color - but at the same time it held unimaginable secrets. The fear of the unknown was the bane of existence. That unknown was hidden within black, hence the shivers that ran down my spine at the sight of the demonic creature. Was he a horse? He was not like any horse that I had seen before. How silly I was, when the thought crossed my mind, to think that that by now I had seen it all. How wrong I was. He opened his mouth to speak, revealing rows and rows of blades jutting in every direction that were teeth made especially visible by a bright green glow. Dripping from between the teeth, out of the corners of his mouth, was a thick black liquid. The same dark substance, which resembled blood, trickled from the bony lesion in his back, pulled by gravity down his legs, pooling on the ground beneath him like bottomless pools of midnight. He was Kisamoa. And he demanded to know what was going on. Now flicking my ears in uncertainty, I did not know whether I should be frightened or horrified or excited at the idea of meeting a god or all three at once. Fortunately, the other horse's reactions to the creature offered me at least some type of reassurance. The Matron laughed pleasantly upon sight of Kisamoa, followed by giving a detailed answer to his question. Kisamoa had been the first to give us the hope, after all. Perhaps, if I could look beyond his appearance, he was not all that bad. I stood my ground, watching as Kiada stepped forward to greet him. Though initially worried about what might happen next, relief washed over me when nothing did and the spotted mare smiled at the god. I said nothing, mostly because I didn't know how to address a god to begin with. Regardless, my manners were not forgotten and I gave him a polite nod. He was the god of the land, after all.
