Akumi enjoyed the warm feeling of the sand on her hooves. Her muzzle to the ground, she swept it back and fourth playing in it as she walked. She was going to visit the once-great city she had heard so much about. They say it isn’t much to see except the the one pinnacle that seems untouched by time or even the rift itself. Crimson hooves sunk in the sand with each step allowing for nothing faster than a walk.
Not after long, a sweet smell caught her attention. She traced it so a strange tree or cactus looking plant seemingly in the middle of nowhere. It seemed to be thriving surprisingly well considering the lack of water around it. It was a carycactus that happened to be covered in stickers. Akumi was fairly new to the eastern flats and had not yet learned of its dangers. It appeared to be a normal cactus so she proceeded to pluck stickers from it on the place she was about to eat but her nose became incredibly itchy. She lifted her right back hoof and scratched the end of her face. Cactus has never made me itch before… Maybe I’m allergic? she thought. But I'm sooo hungry... Akumi was unfortunately mistaken as the carycactus has a small amount of poison in each sticker. A small amount is enough to make you itch, but get more than that and you’ll fall unconscious and become food to this oddly thriving plant in the sands. Akumi wiggled her upper lip and a few stickers fell off. She was very hungry and to her it seemed a little itchiness was a small price to pay for some delicious smelling food. She reached in for it once more and touched the sweet plant with her tongue but at the cost of 5 more stickers. Her eyes watered up at the short quick sting on her nose and she turned away. It itched so badly and she couldn’t pull them out. She left it alone and turned to walk towards her original destination, the once-great city, more itchy than ever and feeling a little dizzy.
