It is little, and broken, but it is Home. - Roscorro - 01-09-2018

ROSCORRO
He had not walked the streets of Halyven since that fateful day he encountered Kiada. Though unlike then no eyes followed him, bidding him to steal from the next horse he saw. It was here he had made and lost a friend in the same day. But that was the past and all had been forgiven. His heart felt lighter, filled with joy at regaining Kiada as a friend. He was truly blessed. His parents had sent him here in hopes that he would die (and he nearly had on more than one occasion). Never would they had expected him to survive for so long. Not only survive, but thrive! Despite all of its dangers and faults, he loved the rift. Sure it was an unpredictable, and sometimes selfish thing, but it was his home. It was here he met Taivas, Gwyn, and Kiada. He had found friends. Ones that had not been forced to be near him or care for him. Actual beings who cared for him because they wanted to in the beginning.

Never before had he thought that someone could actually look at him and not be overcome by fear or hatred. Because no one in his world actually came to like him on their first encounter. It had taken each one of those he now called friends more than a few visits to come to accept him. Though he did not blame them for this. It was their society and culture to shun those that were different, ugly. But here, he wasn't the strangest thing in the world. In fact, he was down right normal if you thought about it. He fit. So yes, despite the darkness that seemed to pulse through this lands veins like a poison, he loved it. Hopefully, with the piece of hope given to him by Kaos himself, he would be able to save his home. To heal it of its illness and restore its hope and light. Oh how more beautiful it would be then!

So with this hope within his heart, the giant Clydesdale pranced through the fallen city. Eager to explore and find others to share his light with. Perhaps not all would consider this place home, but they were stuck here none the less. Surely they would want to see it saved rather than destroyed. Even if it was mere self preservation that drove them to rescue the Rift in the end. Who knows, maybe he would encounter someone that was equally as fond of this land as he was?

Akumi enjoyed the warm feeling of the sand on her hooves. Her muzzle to the ground, she swept it back and fourth playing in it as she walked. She was going to visit the once-great city she had heard so much about. They say it isn’t much to see except the the one pinnacle that seems untouched by time or even the rift itself. Crimson hooves sunk in the sand with each step allowing for nothing faster than a walk.
Not after long, a sweet smell caught her attention. She traced it so a strange tree or cactus looking plant seemingly in the middle of nowhere. It seemed to be thriving surprisingly well considering the lack of water around it. It was a carycactus that happened to be covered in stickers. Akumi was fairly new to the eastern flats and had not yet learned of its dangers. It appeared to be a normal cactus so she proceeded to pluck stickers from it on the place she was about to eat but her nose became incredibly itchy. She lifted her right back hoof and scratched the end of her face. Cactus has never made me itch before… Maybe I’m allergic? she thought. But I'm sooo hungry... Akumi was unfortunately mistaken as the carycactus has a small amount of poison in each sticker. A small amount is enough to make you itch, but get more than that and you’ll fall unconscious and become food to this oddly thriving plant in the sands. Akumi wiggled her upper lip and a few stickers fell off. She was very hungry and to her it seemed a little itchiness was a small price to pay for some delicious smelling food. She reached in for it once more and touched the sweet plant with her tongue but at the cost of 5 more stickers. Her eyes watered up at the short quick sting on her nose and she turned away. It itched so badly and she couldn’t pull them out. She left it alone and turned to walk towards her original destination, the once-great city, more itchy than ever and feeling a little dizzy.

He continued to move through the abandoned streets of the ruins. Like a lone sentry, left to watch a fallen city until he too turned to dust. He took care to stay on the wider fairways, allowed room for his wings, should he need them. He could not see through every window or around every turn. Despite the desolate appearance of the ruins, someone could be lurking just out of sight. Still he walked on, a bounce to his jovial step. His naturally happy attitude seemingly out of place among the crumbling buildings. Clearly something had happened to bring this great city to its knees. Yet here he was, prancing down its broken streets like it was going to a festival. Some might say he was disrespectful, but he cared little of what others had to say and walked on.

A jaunty tune began to slip from his lips in a pleasant hum. Like the city, it was not of this world. A song born from a land beyond the portal. He knew not where this land came from. He did not even know its real name, simply calling it by the one Kiada had spoken when they had first met. Halyven. Little did he know that this was its real name. That this was indeed the fallen city torn from Helovia by the rift. Only those who had seen the once thriving empire before its fall would know. He would likely never find out. And so it was name Halyven within his mind, its history now tied to the dilapidated buildings. In his wandering he found himself at the edge of Halyven. His eyes swept out over the barren land, easily spotting the mare as she walked on unsteady legs. Her form was familiar to him and it did not take long for him to remember her. He let out a nicker of greeting before moving towards her, concern in his eyes. She did not look well.

Heat waves? Everything was blurring and waving all over the place until a familiar voice came through. A friendly sound of greeting from a new friend sounded through her ears and she perked up. "Roscorro?" She hoped it was actually him and she wasn't hallucinating. If it wasn't, she is so vulnerable at the moment she might as well be food for any predator. Akumi's eyes steadily focused on him as best they could. He was a tall figure that moved like water in her eyes. She felt quite embarrassed of her stupid decision to eat from a plant she knew nothing about, especially in the rift. "How are you??" She murmured out, trying to seem like everything was fine for her. Akumi planted her hooves in the ground one by one and spread them a foot and a half apart in hopes to balance herself. She smiled in a way that made her face absolutely goofy and adorable. Almost like a young wobbly filly who'd just lost balance and plopped on her bum while her mother laughed before helping her up.

Her movements were sluggish, uneven. He gave a smile when she uttered his name, before he frowned in concern. She looked absolutely ridiculous standing there, legs splayed out in an attempt to keep herself balanced. Her smile did little to ease his worry or detract from the hilarity. "Better than you, it would seem." He replied, coming closer. Perhaps someone would normally laugh at the way she looked right now. But the fact that something was obviously wrong killed any laughter that would have risen in his throat. She was not well. His hulking frame was soon beside her, offering his steadiness to her uncertain frame. 'What happened? Are you okay?" He pelted her with questions. "Did something do this to do?" Did someone hurt her?

Or was this the Rift toying with her? He knew so little about this world or magic, or poison and could not differentiate between the three. Then again all of them could combine into one within this place. It was so dangerous. Had she stumbled upon something unknown within the Rift that placed this spell upon her? Or was it a sickness unique to this land. So many questions. So much worry. For now he focused on trying to steer her towards the fallen city, if she would let him. They needed to find some shade for her to be in. Maybe she was suffering from a lack of water? His guard had told him of such a thing and it was not that difficult to become dehydrated in a desert. Shade would be good.

The gentle giant steered her in some direction, she did not know which, and she put her trust on him and her whole body weight too. She clumsily walked and stumbled all while leaning against his muscular frame. She looked down to his front paws and watched as each foot spread into the sand with ease and lifted with little effort. Akumi wiggled her nose at the feeling of a few stickers still there. That was so stupid... Akumi looked up toward Roscorro and stared at his focused expression, intent on taking her somewhere and in a hurry. Perhaps a hurry would be good because now she was feeling faint. She felt like a toxin ran through her, throbbing at every angle and causing her drunkenness while also lulling her to sleep. "I'm really tired..." she whispered from her dark lips. "I think I need water.. or medicine.. or sleep." She was just throwing out words now and cures for an illness she knew nothing of. Akumi looked back up at Roscorro with a little hope still left in her eyes.

He was not a native of the rift, so he did not know of the poison that flowed in her veins. Nor the cause. "It's just a little further." He said in reassuring tones. They were not far from their destination as the building loomed before them. He had no problem bearing her weight, his powerful build easily carrying the burden. had he not been born with the spine upon his back, he could have carried her across it, if it came to that. The sun beat down on his dark pelt, causing a sheen of sweat to covered his body despite his hardiness towards hot weather. As she began muttering to him he continued to walk, leading her into the shade of one of the crumbling buildings. The cool touch of the shade lighted upon his wet skin, causing it to twitch.

There he remained beside her, unsure of what to do. he looked about for any possible source of water, but the heat had dried up any moister within the city. "That's better. Out of the sun and heat." He said, trying to keep her focus on him. He was afraid to let her fall asleep. What if the poison killed her while she slept? He felt a heat rise within him. A familiar flame that soon rose to his skin, filling the air with what would have been a pleasant warmth if the world they were in was not so hot.

His heart leaped in his chest. Up until now he had thought that the Rift had ignored his trails. But it had indeed given him a gift. Though it was not the one he had expected to receive. He felt the magic flow through his blood That warmth reached out towards Akumi. It would fill her down to her very bones before retreating, drawing the poison with it as it healed that which was sick. As it settled back within the stallion he felt a weariness settle over his body from its use. His head dropped slightly before he turned it back towards Akumi, unsure of what had just happened.

Roscorro uses his healing magic for the first time to rid Akumi of her poison. Though he's now quite tired because of it.
