So far, the Rift (though Amaris knew not that was this realm's name) was proving interesting.

The dragonmare had barely stayed still for long since her arrival here. She couldn't, for if she allowed herself to remain stationary for too long, she would being to think, to remember, to feel again. And if she did that.. she didn't know if she would ever be able to get up again.

Sometimes she flew, sometimes she walked. She was never in a hurry, any motion was enough to busy her mind, for every motion brought her to a new land, a new place, a new experience to focus on.

And yet… she didn't want to walk away from her past. She wanted to cling to it, to remember it always, to honour it. Was she not honouring it if she did all she could to keep on living, even if that meant aimless wandering, meandering, exploring across these lands they had been thrust into by the very force that had ripped apart their homeland?

It was happening again, the thoughts of her home, of Helovia. Amaris shook her head sharply, dislodging the dragon whose neck was draped up along her own, whose body stretched out over her withers and back. Dramyrth extended his wings and with an easy flap, took flight.

It was a seemingly rare moment where the rain did not fall in heavy, thundering droplets from the sky, but instead drizzled here and there, present but not overwhelmingly so. Amaris tested the air with her pinkish nostrils, frowning slightly as she detected the change in the atmosphere, the taint of the chemicals. She was about to decide to turn away, for she knew of poisons that existed on the very air one breathed - but then…

She didn't care. She was caught on that first breath, intoxicated, euphoric.

A smile touched her lips, one of the first to curve them since she had arrived here. Dramyrth crooned a pleasant song, as he too was affected, and she found herself laughing, kicking up her heels and engaging in a dancing race against no-one, her body moving across the entrance to the strange cave system that had so entrapped her mind and body in its intoxicating, unavoidable grasp.

ooc: open for anyone - Amaris is a little bit high~

All I believe… is it a dream, that comes crashing down on me?

Tamlin lay in a pool of blood inside the yawning cave. He had just been “speaking to his mother”, as he often called his ritual. Beside him was the corpse of a luminescent rodent, somewhere between a rabbit and a squirrel. It was the source of the blood that also covered the black unicorn’s horn and face as well as his white rump and tail. He had dragged his kill here, not even noticing that his flower was almost redundant in this place. The affect of the chemicals here, however, would never satisfy him fully for Tamlin’s drug of choice, the blue lotus, had certain side effects the opium-filled air did not.

He was fading away into his blissful, euphoric state - this time it was even enhanced by the air around him. He tried to hold on to the comforting image of Aviya, but she always faded away together with all his worries. Before the image was completely gone he saw her before his eyes in all her smoky black beauty; he saw her glass horn glitter and he saw those sweet, sweet flowers in her mane. For she had had flowers in her mane, had she not? Or what that someone else whose love he had always craved?

Then she was gone, temporarily erased from his memory even.

Tamlin rose from the cave floor, somewhat unsteadily, and gazed towards the entrance. He thought he heard the beating of pegasi wings. Would he ever be rid of all those winged horses? Otem, Nüwa and now this one, whoever it was. But, he forgot even his irritation with pegasi as the drugs took their hold on him and instead of the sound of wings his senses took notice of the smell of mare.

A soft, rumbling neigh escaped Tamlin and his neck tensed. He had been clean ever since he arrived in this hellish place, thanks to the rains and all the wet vegetation, but he was still very thinned out with matted hair and sunken eyes. Not really the most handsome stallion around, but still with a kind of wild charm to his appearance.

Who is outside the cave? Would she let me touch her?

The curiosity that Alysanne felt about this new land was minimal compared to everything else that she had going on in her mind - there was too much to worry about without thinking about how alien this place and those that lived within it were. She would need to consider it all soon, of course - she would need to know how dangerous this place really was so she could protect her family and friends - but for now, she was just focused on finding everyone that she could.

So she and Hemlock wandered - the small owl lending his eyes where he could and pointing out familiar figures, even if they did not know the names.

As they were passing some caves, the flash of cream and gold caught both Aly and Hemlock’s attention ad they were delighted to recognize this figure. Without hesitation, she hurried over - calling out with so much joy and love. “Amaris!!” She felt lighter than air upon seeing the golden mare - but attributed that to the delight in seeing one of her friends alive and well, not so much the chemicals in the air that might be affecting her.

“Oh my dear, I am so glad to see you!! Are you well?” Hemlock, also feeling lighter than normal, even hooted a greeting to Amaris and her dragon before settling upon Alysanne’s head. Her coat may have changed from black to green - but she hoped at least her voice and her ever-present owl companion would be enough to confirm her identity.

For now, so wrapped up as she was in greeting her friend, she did not notice the stallion in the cave nearby.
