Open Solanis
Otem the Hopebringer
Currently championing:

As with the last time, Tamlin's words caught her completely off guard. The girl recalled how strange she thought it was that he had introduced himself before stabbing her (surely he had always planned on stabbing her? Could such a thing be a spur of the moment idea? Otem didn't really think so. Stabbing almost always was pre-meditated, right?), and had even mentioned the fact to her Father. Volterra had chalked it up to the stallion being dumb, but although his appearance and mannerisms were odd (though now the former was at least somewhat better), Otem wasn't sure Volterra's read of the man was quite correct.

But then he calls her princess, and Otem's bones seem to sing in recognition. Does he know who she is then? Had he always known and just feigned ignorance that day in the jungle? Otem was a princess of sorts, wasn't she? Her grandfather was the God of the Earth after all, and Volterra was the Sultan of the Throat .. on both sides she came from impressive stock. Was that enough to actually earn her the honorific Tamlin now ascribed to her?

"What you can do is answer my question. I asked you why you did it and what you needed the blood for." Although Otem was smaller than Tamlin, she looked up at him with a sort of haughty authority only the very ignorant or youthful can manage.

Pandora gave a warning hoot, golden eyes glowering at the stallion. Otem might not be prepared to defend herself against this man, but the owl certainly was. And though his horn would do quite a bit of damage to her, Pandora was certain she could do quite a bit back with her talons before he dealt her a killing blow.
