Though she craved the spear and would have pursued it for herself on behalf of her beloved goddess (probably the simpler target between two also), Valkyrie’s eager mind, the greed swelling through her core, was swayed by memory of the other item; the small charm that resembled a pale bear’s head, with blue-crystal eyes and fog that billowed when another ventured a touch. It was a prize that had filled her with jealousy, desire, enough that she’d cast away her own small trinket and forget its existence completely—but Eira’s…
As the pastel Shieldmaiden reached across for K’yarie’s small adornment, the star-spangled body against which it rested disappeared into shadow. Valkyrie snorted with surprise and staggered backwards, though a smile quickly lathered her masculine features. “Aye, you caught me!” she chuckled lightly, the sound lifting from deep within a burly man’s chest, and turning, the smaller of the pair sought the entrancing gaze of her idol. A small nod answered the question, though as the other moved forward, she politely resigned not to ask the same.
Heavy strides endeavoured to follow, and though each hoof fell hard, pressing upon the soft earth with the burden of a male’s full weight descending, no print was left as she passed.
“K’yarie, wait…I…” she Shieldmaiden started, hesitant to spoil the fair mood of the celestial beauty, but unable to shake, all the same, the desire for the other charm. “Actually...” her voice wavered in the moment uncertainly, “Actually, I’m pretty sure the spear we need will be somewhere near the big tree.”
An overwhelming wave of combined relief and disappointment swept through her. She swore to retrieve Eira’s charm another time when the pressure of pleasing her goddess was not there to strangle her nerve. Valkyrie danced forward with springing knees, meeting the eyes of the stunning creature with all of the enthusiasm she could muster.
