AURELIA
Aurelia was so. confused. He wasn't deaf, he wasn't mute, he wasn't anything but a fucking idiot. Aurelia began remembering why she began fucking mares a few years ago as the conversation with this stallion progressed.  Despite her mild annoyance, her ears flicked forward as his voice floated to her ears. He apologized to the cream-colored mare and then offered a reason as to why he had turned away from her and walked away. The fire that had been so prominent seconds ago had weakened and eventually died, but her back hooves and legs remained covered in smokey soot as evidence of the flames.

She watched him with a blank expression as her thoughts were pulled back to her belly. Aurelia was extremely pregnant, which added to her irrationality and crazy mood swings, but she'd always been unpredictable. Aurelia, in every way, was a wild card. The smallest things could set her off at a moment's notice whereas other things, that one would think would be a trigger, are calming to the mare. A good thing to keep in mind when dealing with the constantly irate pegasus is expect the unexpected. The source of all of Aurelia's irrationality was one simple thing: an insecure heart. She was always paranoid someone was judging her from a narrowed perspective.

Everything this stallion was doing screamed leave me alone, but Aurelia chose to ignore it all. She had a mission- learn more about the Rift- and she was dead set on accomplishing it. When he spoke about the strong sun, her gaze rose to the cloudless sky. Was the sun stronger here than Helovia? Why did he want to go into the jungle? Couldn't they just linger under the trees lining the outskirts of the jungle? "I'm scared to go in there," she offered quietly to the stallion. Would he care, probably not? She looked at where he slowly retreating form was and danced quietly in place out of hesitation. Should she follow, should she not? The pegasus eyed the path curiously before eventually deciding to follow him.

With every step she took, something in the foliage on either side of her would scurry away. She never saw the animals that ran in fright from her, but she definitely heard them. This forest had just as much life as the portal had. It seemed everything in the Rift was alive from the residents to the land itself.

The stallion, whose name she still didn't know, was only a little ways ahead. Aurelia was a talkative creature, so her dulcet voice floated from her lips in a sing-songy way. "Uh... so how often do you come here?" It was a very simple question. He could answer in only one word if he really wanted to. Should he not answer, the awkward tension in the air would be palpable and Aurelia may just leave from embarrassment. The encounter had been very rough so far, but Aurelia was so determined to make it work. Perhaps it was his good-looks or even just his unwillingness to acknowledge her, something made her want to keep trying. He was a challenge that she wanted to solve.
