AURELIA
Aurelia stopped explaining herself and her actions when she realized others would only every understand from their level of perception. All horses are lengthy books filled with hundreds of pages, thousands of words, million of letters. Strangers judge others harshly, but that is because they have not read their entire book. How would they ever understand a stranger if they only read one measley chapter in the middle of their story? Should they decide to judge Aurelia based on the one chapter they read, she could try to explain to them what her life has been and what she has been through, but it hard to condense hundreds of pages into one conversation. In the end, it leaves Aurelia percieved as crazy, irrational, and wild. It's true, she is these things, but its not just because she wants to be these things. Life has not been easy on the gold clad mare.

An erratic variety of thoughts occupied Aurelia's mind as she peacefully floated through the sky. Her body sparkled, thanks to her enchanted locket, as the sun warmed her back. Every once in a while, her golden eyes would drift shut and she would just enjoy the feeling of flight. When she reopens her eyes, they catch sight of an island. The island is covered by thick green trees and looks like a rather enjoyable place to rest her weary wings. Her altitude begins dropping as she near the small land mass. Honing in on a large stretch of beautiful beach, she prepares to land there. Her wings angle to catch the wind in order to slow down as the ground rushes closer. With a moderately loud thud and the spray of sand from the impact of her hooves, Aurelia has safely landed on the beach part of the island. Her eyes shift towards the forest, but she doesn't make a move towards it yet.

Overall, she was still very confused about the Rift. She desperately wanted to know more and would ask the very next soul she laid her eyes on. She'd learned a good amount about it already, but it wasn't enough information to be comfortable living here. Every minute she was afraid the ground was going to convulse and the implode beneath her into a deep, dark abyss. Being murdered by the angry land was not on Aurelia's 'To-Do' list by any means.

Angling her body towards the forest, her sweet voice wafts into the air. "Is anyone here?" She doubted, if there were any horses here, that they would be anything but pegasus. Equines and unicorns would have to swim very far to get here, and though it was possible, she doubted that any horses would truly want to do that.

Most equine not gifted with wings tended to avoid the floating island. Unwilling to make the arduous swim out towards the lonesome key. Making it the perfect place for Ruwin to escape to when he wanted to be alone. Though the swim was made all the more difficult with his useless, metal wings. Malspira plant aided the stallion in his travels towards the island. Why swim when you can travel beneath the sea. One did have to be wary of the beasts that live within its depths, however the native was quite adept at navigating a more shallow section of the sea in order to reach the key. The light of hope that bobbed before him served to light his path in the dark depths of the ocean. So this thing was actually useful for something after all.

Body slick with water, the stallion emerged from the sea. Well tones muscles flexed and coiled beneath his shinning pelt as it clung to his body. His mane clung to the side of his neck like withered vines while his tail attempted to do the same with his hind legs as he walked. Tossing his head to rid his eyes of the hair that obstructed his view the native plowed through the sand towards the forest. As he walked a form came into view. Her uttered a quiet curse under his breath as he recognized the outline of another horse. He had no desire to socialize today and he turned to move away. He had not been noticed yet, he could slip away undetected. But his piece of hope had other ideas. It shot forward. Rushing towards the mare in an flurry of light as it honed in other the other being who possessed her own orb of light. Again the stallion breathed a curse. He had no hope of escaping unnoticed now. Yet he kept walking, unwilling to make nice even though his little light wanted him to. He was the type that fought against anything and anyone that tried to force him to do something he didn't want to.

With any luck the other horse would go about their own business and let him be. The sun glinted off of his metal wings as water formed into droplets upon their smooth surface. In the heat of the sun Ruwin's pelt began to steam as the Sorch tried to sap every ounce of moisture from his very being. He regarded it with little more that a flick of his ear. Having been born in the rift he had developed a surprising tolerance for the extremes the weather tended to take. Bearing them with the same amount of stoic grumpiness anyone can muster. Though he knew much of his world, he was not inclined to go sharing his wisdom with the newbies. If the mare was looking for a willing horse to answer her every question or just keep her company, she was out of luck.

The horse that washed up on the shore of the island was not what she expected. He was, for lack of a better term, hot. Aurelia stood quietly still as his orb rushed towards her. It abruptly stopped before her, bobbing with her own orb. She watched the spherical balls of light with curiosity, wondering if they were sentient like the beast near the portal here was. He approached slowly, and if Aurelia had to make a guess as to why it would be because he was probably tired considered he swam here like a fish. The wings on his back were usless, clearly.

Aurelia's eyes shifted from the orbs to the stallion as he drew near. She stretched her muzzle towards him, hoping he'd bump it in a civil way of greeting, but doubted he would. He seemed ornery more than anything. After a few moments, she withdrew her muzzle. Aureate eyes scanned him quickly, interested. Aurelia was an odd-looking mare, literally sparkling as she stood there staring. Nothing about her was normal, from her white pupils to her unusual markings she seemed as though she should be in an exhibit in a zoo or museum. This stranger was odd too, but in a different way than Aurelia. He was muscular, rugged, and delectable. At his flank are metal wings, glinting under the sun's rays. She silently wondered if she were to just reach out and touch them if they would burn her, after all, metal can get extremely hot quickly when given the chance. He appears to be a buckskin but has almost tribal-looking swirls covering his features.

Though she'd already tried to greet him with a bump of her snout, words also seemed important to create a conversation. "You look familiar," she said breathily. At first, she couldn't remember at all, but then she did. He had been at the tree when she was- the tree that bestowed gifts on all sorts of Riftians and Helovians alike. Although Aurelia hadn't said anything to him (or anyone for that matter), she remembered vaguely the faces that had gathered around the tree- he was definitely one of them, she was sure of it the more she thought about it. "Ah yes.." she started. "The tree." The golden pegasus didn't offer any more information, but she figured he'd get the gist of what she was talking about.

ooc; i hope its ok she remembers his face a little from the tree of light thread? if not just let me know and ill edit the post :p

She did not leave him be. He was not surprised. It seemed he always ended up being the object of someone's attention. Though she made the first move, he made no effort to return her greeting. Unfamiliar with the custom, and not entirely willing to go touching anyone. So he let her hang there, nose outstretched as he watched her with crystal blue eyes.

His face was as stoic as ever as he regarded her coolly. She was indeed a spectacle. A true curiosity to behold, with her pelt that glittered like gold. One could call her beautiful. Though Ruwin had never cared about the looks of another. One might wonder exactly what the unicorn cared for, if he even cared at all. As such he merely regarded her with a gaze that revealed nothing to the inner workings of his mind.

Though she was unique and dazzling, he was a being born within this world. He had seen many strange equine. Though unlike the mare K'yarie, who's pelt reflected the heavens at night, this mare did not faun over him or make any effort to flirt. Which naturally put her in a better light than the irritating Frisian. Upon being told that she recognized him, the stallion cocked his head. A lock of his mane falling over one eye with the movement. He also thought back to where he may have seen her. She was not hard to remember when he thought about it. He recalled seeing her at the tree of light. Her words only confirmed that. He gave a small nod of acknowledgement, but said nothing.

He, like so many others, had been attracted to the tree of light. He blamed the odd sensation that had filled his head upon being given his own piece of hope. Like almost akin to the sensation one felt when entering Ennunyenda. Though he had never been a fan of going yending even as a youth. He hated gatherings, yet he still went and secretly enjoyed the feeling of joy in the air. Though he had said nothing to the other equine there, he did not need to. He came, offered a gift and prayer, then went. That was all that was required of him.

He began to move once more, seeking the shade of the rainforest before the sun began to burn him. He pelt was becoming drier. Even in the short time upon the beach it had lost his slick shine, as the moisture escaped in the form of steam. His mane, also drying quickly became far more wavy and tousled as it was hit by the sun. He did have a tolerance for the Scorch, but he had no desire to bake on a beach for the sheer fun of it. Tail flicking he sauntered off. Not caring if the mare followed him or not. It wasn't his beach or jungle, she could walk where she wanted. But she couldn't expect him to engage in much of a conversation.

At every turn, the stallion left her hanging. What an ass. He didn't bump her snout, he didn't say hi, he didn't even say he remembered her too. Honestly, anything would be better than this awkward silence.

His hide was quickly drying, steaming as it did so. Of course, even looking like a half-wet dog, he was still attracted to her. His looks would only get him so far with Aurelia. Her patience was quickly draining and her temper heating up.

When he turns and begins walking away, Aurelia takes offense. Her jaw relaxes, hanging open with a surprised expression. He wouldn't be able to see her expression because he was already facing away from her leaving. She was frozen still, unsure what she should do. Why had he even approached her if he had no desire to acknowledge her whatsoever? As she regained her composer, her eyes rolled back into her head as a sign of annoyance. "Hey!" she called as he kept walking. She opened her mouth to say something else but was truly at a loss for words. Usually, Aurelia only dealt with the extremes- she'd either be flirted with, yelled at, or loved. No one had ever blatantly ignored her in this way. It was pissing her the fuck off. Her hind hooves began heating up, something that occurred constantly since her arrival in the Rift whenever she got angry. They heated to the point they combusted with black gold-trimmed fire.

The very distinct stench of fire that subtly clung to her hide constantly was magnified now that she was actually on fire. The stallion was ways in front of her now, nearly to the tree line, when Aurelia began cantering after him.  She looked rather angry now that she was all fired-up (literally).

As quickly as her temper flared, it cooled. Maybe he was mute? The thought hadn't crossed her mind and it made her do a complete 180-degree-turn from angry to piteous. "Sorry," she mumbled awkwardly, 100% positive he was mute now. Of course, he wasn't actually mute and would probably be confused by Aurelia's apology. Or maybe he wouldn't care at all.

He certainly did not see her expression. If he had he would be rather puzzled. If she had told him that she felt ignored he would have told her that he had given her a nod of acknowledgement that he did indeed know her from the tree. It wasn't his fault she had missed it. But had there been a need to speak when an action so simple could convey his understanding and agreement? Sometimes the unicorn was rather dense. Ruwin ignored her furious exclamation. Was she expecting him to stay out on the hot beach and chat with her? He had come this way because it was the more direct path to the trees. Not because he had intended to socialize with her. It was the blast orb that had gone up to her in a friendly manner. Not him.

He paused at the sound of fire. Like the rift he was oddly in tune with the sensation of magic. It filled the air and left a metallic taste upon his tongue. He turned to face her as she charged, her body aflame. Despite having a flaming woman bearing down upon him, the stallion remained still. Like a stone gargoyle with its head bowed, horns ready to pierce. He was certain that he was going to be hit by the mare and he tensed. He was ready. If she was going to slam into him she would impale herself on his horns. But he remained ready to rear back should she lash out with her hooves instead. But as quickly as the mare's fury flared, it vanished. For the first time that day, a look crossed the stallion's face. Confusion. First she is trying to attack him, now she was apologizing. His ears pinned back in uncertainty. Had he really done something to anger her so? He did not recall making any rude noises or body gestures towards her. Nor did he expect her to take his disinterest in her so personally. Yet he felt that he had done something wrong...

With a heavy sigh he straightened, his head cocking again. Though antisocial, he was not entirely unkind. "I upset you." He final spoke. His rich voice flowing off of his lips. Though he had intended to come across as understanding, it sounded more like a statement then anything. Certainly nothing close to an apology on his part. But he was still trying to figure out what the heck was expected of him here. He just wanted to get to the jungle. He didn't want to make friends or even meet anyone today. Yet now he had infuriated a mare that possessed fire magic. Go figure. "Sorry." He finally said, figuring that that was the best course of action. She was apologizing to him after reacting the way she had. He should offer the same since he was not an easy creature to get along with.

Though he would not change and thought it rather silly that someone could get so insulted by being ignored. Instead of turning his back on her again, he did something very odd. He spoke again. "The beach becomes dangerously hot." he turned, walking along the outline of the trees. He kept his head turned so he could watch her out of the corner of his eye. Just in case she came after him again. He walked a few more paces before pausing to look back at her. "Unless you enjoy baking in the sun, you'd best find water and shelter in the jungle." The shade and fresh water was located within the jungle, not out here on the beach where the sand stuck to your fur and found its way into the most uncomfortable of places. His apology and good deed done for the day, he began moving again. Still very aware of the mare and her location as he made his way into the jungle where fresh water lay. After his trek across the ocean to get here, he was mighty thirsty.

AURELIA
Aurelia was so. confused. He wasn't deaf, he wasn't mute, he wasn't anything but a fucking idiot. Aurelia began remembering why she began fucking mares a few years ago as the conversation with this stallion progressed.  Despite her mild annoyance, her ears flicked forward as his voice floated to her ears. He apologized to the cream-colored mare and then offered a reason as to why he had turned away from her and walked away. The fire that had been so prominent seconds ago had weakened and eventually died, but her back hooves and legs remained covered in smokey soot as evidence of the flames.

She watched him with a blank expression as her thoughts were pulled back to her belly. Aurelia was extremely pregnant, which added to her irrationality and crazy mood swings, but she'd always been unpredictable. Aurelia, in every way, was a wild card. The smallest things could set her off at a moment's notice whereas other things, that one would think would be a trigger, are calming to the mare. A good thing to keep in mind when dealing with the constantly irate pegasus is expect the unexpected. The source of all of Aurelia's irrationality was one simple thing: an insecure heart. She was always paranoid someone was judging her from a narrowed perspective.

Everything this stallion was doing screamed leave me alone, but Aurelia chose to ignore it all. She had a mission- learn more about the Rift- and she was dead set on accomplishing it. When he spoke about the strong sun, her gaze rose to the cloudless sky. Was the sun stronger here than Helovia? Why did he want to go into the jungle? Couldn't they just linger under the trees lining the outskirts of the jungle? "I'm scared to go in there," she offered quietly to the stallion. Would he care, probably not? She looked at where he slowly retreating form was and danced quietly in place out of hesitation. Should she follow, should she not? The pegasus eyed the path curiously before eventually deciding to follow him.

With every step she took, something in the foliage on either side of her would scurry away. She never saw the animals that ran in fright from her, but she definitely heard them. This forest had just as much life as the portal had. It seemed everything in the Rift was alive from the residents to the land itself.

The stallion, whose name she still didn't know, was only a little ways ahead. Aurelia was a talkative creature, so her dulcet voice floated from her lips in a sing-songy way. "Uh... so how often do you come here?" It was a very simple question. He could answer in only one word if he really wanted to. Should he not answer, the awkward tension in the air would be palpable and Aurelia may just leave from embarrassment. The encounter had been very rough so far, but Aurelia was so determined to make it work. Perhaps it was his good-looks or even just his unwillingness to acknowledge her, something made her want to keep trying. He was a challenge that she wanted to solve.

he thought that she would not follow him when she said that she was scared to enter the jungle. That thought was proven wrong when he heard to pushing through the foliage behind him. Was she really so determined to stick with him? After he had offended her and barely acknowledged her existence? Though she was completely different from K'yarie, she was so much like her. Both refused to leave him be. But unlike K'yarie, this one had shown weakness. She had admitted to being afraid of this jungle. Yet she chose to follow him. The stoic unicorn slowed his pace until he walked beside the spirited woman, offering his presence as comfort. They walked in silence while he followed familiar landmarks that would lead them to water.

His head lifted in a thoughtful manner when she asked him yet another question. "Too often to count." He responded. Their hoof beats soon filled the air as he let silent fall between them once more. He watched her from the corner of his eye, for the first time noting the way he belly was swollen. Ah, that was why she was all over the place. He motioned towards her belly. "How far along are you?" If she was close to giving birth than things could get complicated. There were not many suitable shelters in this area for a birthing mother. Pushing his way through a thick patch of brush he paused, holding the branches and vines aside until the mare walked through.

He was becoming more resigned to the fact that she would be following him for the day. He'd wait a moment to see if she would accept his gesture and walk through before continuing on. Emerging on a small game trail the stallion pressed on. His ears never stopped moving, his eyes always on the look out. Despite the island seeming rather peaceful, there were dangers lurking within the shadows.

It would not be long before paused again, this time before a fork in the trail. The right path was the shortest route to his destination, but it was rocky and step. He took the smoother path to the left, mindful of his unwanted companion. He was not happy that she had followed him into the forest, but he was not so heartless to tempt a pregnant mare down a dangerous path just to get her off of his back. He wouldn't even put K'yarie in that sort of situation. No matter how much she annoyed him. Maybe if they were a stallion, but never a mare. he remained quietly attentive of the mare, though he did not show this.

Other than the obvious moment when he held the brush back for her, his subtle, but thoughtful actions were harder to recognize as they moved on. Switching of the path, slowing his pace when a the ground was particularly rough so as to remain beside her. An ear ever so slightly angled her way when he was not watching her out of the corner of his eye. Those unfamiliar with the key's jungle tended to struggle as they traveled through it. he did not hide the fact that he didn't care to have her following him. That wasn't going to change. But now that she was here, he wasn't about to abandon the mare in the middle of an unfamiliar place. This was one of the many times when his kindness clashed him his desire to be left alone.

He wasn't being overtly nice to her, but he wasn't being ornery anymore. The conversation still felt stiff and awkward, but Aurelia stayed by his side. He didn't answer her question with an exact guess, but more of a vague general answer. Aurelia awknowledged the answer, but she wasn't sure what to say in reply so she just stayed silent (a rare occurance for the vixen).

He had decided to slow his pace to walk next to the rather fat pegasus. She appreciated it. His icy eye caught sight of her flank and the usually fearless mare became somewhat embarrassed. Pregnant from a stallion she doesn't even know in a place she is completely alone in, the pregnancy wasn't exactly something to be proud of right now. "Uh.. I- I don't know," she awkwardly stuttered. The truth is that this pregnancy had lasted way too long. The foal had been conceived in Helovia a long time ago, but when the four gods died, time stopped- everything stopped. Aurelia was stuck in a place with no time, no sun, no life, no moon. "Your time.. I've been pregnant maybe a year and a half or so?"

She hadn't gotten pregnant right before the Rift's portal had begun swallowing horses. No.. she was ready to give birth when the rift started swallowing horses. So when the portal opened she'd already been pregnant for a little shy of a year. Otem had told Aurelia the portal had opened months ago, but Aurelia was stuck in a timelessness so she never gave birth. She stopped growing and aging, and so did her in-utero baby. "I came through the portal from Helovia only days ago. I'm not sure how staying in Helovia so long affected the birth, but I assume it slowed it down because I was supposed to give birth months ago." This situation was so awkward. How had such a simple question garnered such an intensely complicated response? Amidst her chaotic response, the stag had held a bush back for her, giving her plenty of space to waddle through. She offered a quick thank you in response.

They walked for only a little more before the stallion took the left path when their route forked in two ways. She tripped over her hooves every now and then but kept working hard to match the male's pace and stride. He was larger than her, and though it wasn't by much it made a difference. Her baroque, mustang's body was far less quick than the stallion's.

"Who are you?" Aurelia's voice was quiet even though her words were abrupt. If she was going to walk with the stallion and be propositioned about her pregnancy, she might as well learn his name. "I'm Aurelia."

ooc; omg if she went into labor.. that would be the funniest.

He listened to her as she told her tale. He knew when the portal had opened and the majority of the Helovians entered their land. Never before had he considered the possibility that some might be stuck between the two worlds in a place where time stood still. He had been told by mares that being pregnant was hard enough in the normal allotted time. He could not imagine being stuck that way for so long. She was far overdo and this caused Ruwin a great deal of concern. He was not a healer or trained in the art of helping a mother birth her foal. He had been present when his mother had birthed his youngest sister, but he had merely been moral support while the others took care of her. He swallowed the curse he wanted to aim at what ever god dropped this mare in his lap. So much for a peaceful, quiet day on the key. He watched her even closer, praying that the child would be good and stay within the their mother's womb.

All of this inner frustration remained hidden behind placid eyes as the unicorn walked beside her. He noted how she struggled to match his pace and checked his own gate. When she stumbled he drew close enough to provide support if needed. Though he took care to not actually touch her. If she needed his strength, she would use it. But she was a tenacious thing and so far she had not used his shoulder for support. he had expected her to ask him about his identity sooner. When she did he answered the same way he always did. "You can call me Watcher." He preferred to not give out his own name, believing that a true name had power.

His head tilted as he picked up the sound of falling water. "We're almost there." He stated, feeling the need to let her know that their trek was almost over. As she spent more time with him the stallion softened. Though she had stubbornly insisted upon following him, and even threatened him with a fiery charge. She was not all that bad. He certainly was finding that he did not mind her being around as much as he had earlier. Perhaps it was the thought of the young one in her belly that eased his solitary heart. Or perhaps it was simply that she had done little to try and hide her own self from him. So far every emotion or reactions appeared entirely genuine. No words meant to flatter or deceive left her lips. He much preferred to be around those who were unafraid to hide who they were. if she tried to manipulate or deceive him he would push her away. But until they he was moving from loathing her presence to tolerating. If they kept this up he might even move onto slightly like her being around.

As they rounded a bend they were greeted by a beautiful sight. Water cascaded down into a crystal clear pool of water. Even at its deepest depths one could see directly to the bottom. A testament to his purity. It glittered and sparkled in the light that filtered through the thick canopy of leaves. A thin mist hung around the falling water as it tumbled from a high cliff down into the pools. Soft, white sand covered the small beach. Brightly colored fruit hung from the trees within easy reach. Ruwin took a few steps towards his hidden paradise. His home. "You're the first person to see this place." he said. He never shared his little hide away with others. Though he doubted Aurelia would be able to find her way back to it. Stepping into the shallows of the water he took a deep gulp. The cool liquid slid down his throat, quenching his thirst like rain upon the desert. Lifting his head he peered back at his guest, water droplets clinging to his chin.
