Vynter the Hopebringer
Currently championing:
#7

His eyes looked into Ruwin's when he finally gained consciousness, his own filling up with concern for his comrade. He nudged him tenderly, encouraging rest, before digging into his herbs to get to work. He was so focused he didn't noticed K'yarie's wording at first, but when it registered he only wasted a brief second to look in her direction. He often surprised others with his abilities, how could one so young be so knowledgeable about herbs and healing? The only thing him and his father seemed to really connect with was herbs, Vynter always being curious about every little thing and often watching his father gather and sort them. The man had taken advantage of his curiosity to teach him how they could be used, and so for a large chunk of his life Vynter spent countless hours gathering plants and learning what they accomplished.

"My father," was his only response to her, working on a poultice in the process for Ruwin's burns. So focused in his task he didn't sense her at first, because in any other given circumstance he would have smelled her scent in a heartbeat. It was only when her lilt carried upon the wind did he freeze in his work, eyes widely staring at the herbs before him as he tried to process his feelings. She was being rude, as always, and even though Vynter didn't exactly know how it was rude, he was aware of her condescending tone by now. Yet even when he slowly turned his head in her direction, when his eyes finally fell upon her his heart fluttered delicately.

Although K'yarie was a beautiful mare in her own, sultry and regal way; in Vynter's eye Valkyrie's own beauty made the woman look old and haggard. She was so delicate, standing gracefully in K'yarie's shadow with her beautiful eyes focused on him. Although there was a smug smirk on her cream and white complexion, the confident glimmer in her eyes of blue caused his heart to start racing. It had been a long while since he had seen her. The last time they had seen one another was when he was deaf and crippled; scrawny and still uncertain with who he was and what he was to do with his life.

Although he still wasn't entirely sure of himself, he was stronger now; with two beautiful wings and a drive that could not be swayed. He had grown in more ways than one could imagine, and so to see her here in a new chapter of his life made him feel as if that now was the time he should try to rekindle their friendship together. He would do that of course, but only when he was finished tending to his fallen comrade. Determined to prove that he had changed greatly since their last meeting; Vynter began to make quick work of tending to Ruwin's wounds.

Instead of crushing herbs with his mouth this time, he used a jagged stone to mix the concoction together before expertly applying it to the cracked skin that was once flawless on the brute. As time went on, it seemed that K'yarie was ready to leave, meaning Valkyrie would likely follow suit. Without thinking the boy turned to look at them both, eyes full of brief panic as he blurted,"NO!" Realizing his grave error, he visibly recoiled, fumbling to find a reason why they had to stay. When he was about to lose all hope an idea came to mind, and in a calmer; yet still frantic gesture, he looked to the two ladies intensely.

"Moss and cobwebs... I need some moss and cobwebs. Where would they be?"
