Walking, walking, ever on….in the rain. God did it ever stop. By now the gold’s head is level, and his harks listlessly hanging.  Maybe this was Kaos’s plan. Not tormenting them with strange mutations (his scales were still there…). Not slowly agonizing over burns and wounds. No. He’d send them to a place of eternal rain and clouds, where eventually they would all go mad with the need for the sun.

”ZY” The stallion jumps as a word comes through the bond which was now so often silent. Crowned head looks over to his companion, the dark stag. They hadn’t realized how reliant the two had become on their speech…The gold titled his head with a nicker, questioning. The stag rolled his eyes. Then snorts and shakes his head. No, he meant no…zy? Crazy? Ah who knew….The gold snorts back and keeps walking. At least the stag was feeling slightly better… It had taken several days for him to eat fully, though still they were very small, and he slept as much as he could get away with….Still better than he had been.

What finally broke this dull march through the rain was something rather exciting to the gold. He’d heard the ocean without much excitement. Who knew what strange monsters were in there, given the lurking eyes always in the forest. Plus why go swimming, you were already soaked. But then Haldir gave one of the most excited calls he’d given since they’d left. The gold turned- A CAVE! Shelter!

Without another thought the gold kicked up his heels and cantered towards the cave, not caring what it held inside, what it looked like, or even if it was some monster’s mouth. It was dry inside. DRY. Or….sort of. It was a shelter from the rain, and that’s all he cared about. He roared into the opening, Haldir shortly behind, skidding to a stop, and sighing as soon as he felt his first second without a raindrop hitting him.
