It is a land—it does not know pity. It is a mouth-less body, an insatiable hunger, an entity which transcends both psyche and body. It is everything, and nothing; anything. It is the bones of the earth, but the earth has no bones. It is the soul of the land, but the land has no soul. It is the blooming shadows, the pulsing light, the purr of thunder; the neon wings in flight, the cacophony from a thousand avian throats. It is the strange, hypnotic call. It is the haunting, mournful song. It is the predator sneaking through the thickets.
It is life, it is death. It is composed of unfinished spells and forgotten dreams, ambitions and lost hopes—a place where power and greatness crowded in too close, and became nightmare.
Do not be mistaken—the land feels him enter. It feels his hooves press into the churned mud of Drench. It feels him stumble away.
And it does nothing, for it knows it cannot.
