The feast has begun. The promised lambs, delivered. Body after body tumbles out, ready for the taking—but so far, the pickings have been slim. The hunger rolls in the bones of the lands, echoed by the thunder, the quakes reverberating through the ground. Far, far away, the whirlpools of the southern sea roar—the empty places of the world struggling against their boundaries.
What should've been a slaughter of the soul—ripping everything from them—was.. not. Their souls, so full with exotic magic, were shielded, by something. The land's hunger could not sink into them. They were protected.
Yet every soul to come through would bear the Rift's mark, whether it was just a breath down their neck, or more.
It was nothing quite so physical, though. The spirit of the land had no form. Its hunger had no bounds.

Magic:
Offensive: Can form a lasso made out of winds.
Items:
Defensive: A lightweight silver headpiece. It wards against magics attempted to affect the mind.
Vanity: An opaque, shapeless cloak with a hood attached. It turns the wearer invisible.
Amulets:
The amulets start to vibrate—more and more and more, until you can hear the high-pitched tinkling. They're both scalding hot, to the point where you're pretty sure you'll get all your fur melted—but then they go glacier cold. Erratic sparks of electricity wind around one of them. It keeps whispering. And then—it shatters, and you feel like you've been struck in the heart. And maybe you have, for the essence of Time has turned you into a foal. Don't worry, just take a long, good soak in the rain and it'll wash off, but—that other amulet? The one with a heart black as death? You can't take it off. Every time you try, it pulls tighter against your neck, letting go only when you stop trying. And it keeps whispering. You can't hear what, but consider whose essence it is crafted from, it can't be anything good.
