and I was left unsupervised.
The trip through the portal was blessedly short. It certainly wasn’t elegant in any way, but the darkness did not follow through the opening that the Gods held open. She just hoped that her sister did. In hindsight, perhaps flying through the portal at advanced speed may not have been her wisest choice. She wasn’t really considering the physics of it all at the time, not when people were literally exploding and all. At a certain point, self preservation sort of takes over doesn’t always do the best job at foresight.
Iona fell more than anything into the Rift, trying her best to slow her descent before she hit the ground. However, she knew that this particular landing wasn’t going to be pretty. She managed to land mostly on her feet, though she immediately crumpled to the ground from the sheer force. She huffed as she took a moment to collect herself before pulling herself back to her feet, whirling around and immediately evaluating the area for any potential threats.
Well. This looks safe, the painted mare thought bitterly to herself, pinning her ears flat against her skull. Her first impressions of this place were even less savory than her first impressions of Helovia, and just look how that relative shitshow had ended up.
Her attention was diverted to Iver, who seemed to have recovered less gracefully from their arrival. “Oh come on my landing wasn’t that bad,” she muttered, indignantly, to the bird, who wobbled unsteadily on shaky legs. Iona’s brow furrowed as Iver continued to struggle to orient himself, confusion blooming in her chest when she realized that she was only getting spurts of distress through their bond. The bird let out a pitiful cry before crumpling in a heap, unable to orient himself at all in this new place. ”Shit,” the mare grumbled under her breath, wondering if the portal had somehow injured meddlesome, but still somehow loveable, little bird. She stood over her companion before again craning her neck around, not at all pleased at how the past few hours had unfolded.
”Where the fuck are we.” she snarled, in a huff.
