Sharp, beady eyes stare through the crystal from down the beach. A feather-ornamented head cocks, sharp beak clacking in warning a few times (though the temperamental creature is too far away for this warning to mean anything), as the female stopped her foraging though the sand to watch the warped movement in the crystal cave.
And she saw a bird, as large as herself, with a bluish tint. Another Dusk Howler? Perhaps a male? The large, dangerous hen preened herself wildly, before letting loose an excited keen—so true to her species’ namesake.
With long, sharply taloned toes and flapping wings, she half-flew half-sprinted down the sandy shore towards the crystal cave. She stopped on the outside, opposite of the giant bluejay (though, through the crystal, she she still assumed it was a male mate for herself).
Her sharp, long beak pecked repeatedly at the crystal wall, eyes alight with excitement.
