There was an ache, dull and throbbing in his body as he made his way through the portal. Ungraceful in his footing, the gangling yearling made his way through the trees, icy eyes filled with fatigue. He needed to find her before anything else, otherwise he truly would be alone. Mother was the first to go, with those kind steel eyes and a smile filled with love. Despite the blood that trickled from her lips until her dying breath, she only gave him love. He would cherish that always.

Father was not the same when Mother left them. A recluse he became but in the dead of night, where Vynter would watch the man he looked so much like stare at the moon with longing. Whenever it snowed he seemed to grow even more sorrowful. The colt had yet to understand how frozen liquid could make a man sad, but despite his curiosity he did not ever question Father's feelings. He simply continued to explore as he pleased.

As time went on the land had begun to change. There was no longer a sense of order or familiarity. In the fray of chaos he had lost sight of his beloved twin, and could only stand at the side as Father suddenly vanished before his eyes. Nothing can entirely explain the realization of becoming an orphan in a matter of seconds.
Despite this, his mind had been focused on Sister, and with the crowd growing more frantic and the bodies falling this didn't seem to be an easy feat.

When the portal opened, his first reaction was to run into it. He only hoped Sister would do the same.

{Passive Magic} Ice forms beneath his hooves (Of no use in battle)

When I made him I used a magic foal with VOTG pass, and I have yet to use the VOTG pass. If I could transfer this over for a trial pass that'd be lovely; but if not then I understand!

he moved through the portal lands once more. Why? because he wished to place some of his little machines about the border of the portal. He wished to study the odd entrance to their world, to see who came through without having to actually socialize. Information was power and he had been doing a sorry job of keeping watch within his world. he could feel a change within the layers of the Rift as more light was spread, more hope was shared. He was curious to see what effects these changes would have. Who the Rift would suck into their world as time passed.

As he trekked through the vile wood, he left mechanical spiders behind. Their forms crawled up trees and beneath rocks, taking up positions. They would come to life when called upon by their master, allowing him to watch the world from the distance. This was what brought him back to this dismal place. He was before the portal, commanding a couple of his spiders to take positions in safe locations among the rocks, when it appeared. The small frame burst from the portal and came barreling towards him. He stood his ground, ready to take on the thing that had appeared.

ooc: Short. Sorry! Feel free to say your boy ran into him if you want, he is sort of standing right in front of the entrance to the portal like a dummy.

the Rift
There’s a darkness that pushes in like it was brought on a wind. It covers everything around you, swallowing you in a star-flecked night. There’s a strange humming just above your ears, not enough to be too noticeable, but enough that it can be unnerving. After a few moments, it finds what it seeks and alters it subtly before slipping from you and returning to whatever pit it came from and the sound vanishes with it.

Vanity Magic:
Ice forms beneath his hooves and makes it hard for him to stand still without slipping.
The Rift slightly changes your vanity magic!

For clarification on the vanity magic, I put it in this category so it would be more of an illusion of ice forming beneath his feet. The mutation only effects Vynter and makes it look as though he's slipping on the ice on his feet, but there's no true ice there.

As for the VOTG pass, there are no trial passes here - but you can trial for anything! There’s more information in the guidebook about how to go about it. You can also trial to have his vanity magic fixed if you like!

Well, fuck.
Orphaned before her first birthday.

She and Vynter had torn mother apart when they were born. Unintentionally, of course, but it still happened. What they hadn’t realized is that they had also lost their father the same day. His body still lived, still breathed, but he was little more than an empty shell. An empty vessel, his soul floating away with mother’s. It was almost cathartic to see his empty shell obliterated by Kaos. The only world she knew snuffed out shortly afterward by the seemingly corrupted beast. Amber eyes had only been glued to her father until he was gone then they simply lingered on the place where he had been. Overwhelmed by a number of emotions (anger and sorrow but also a surprising amount of relief) and the smallest hint of a desire for revenge – heat consumes her, shifting her body from flesh and bone to flickering flame.

She doesn’t hesitate to charge the strange gateway, a flaming Pegasus hurtling like a meteor – with reckless abandon – into the unknown. She doesn’t see Vynter before her (even if she had bothered to look) but knowing him as only a twin can, she didn’t need to see him. He’d go through just as quickly as she has – perhaps with just a bit less flair. Flair just isn’t his style. He’s subtle but just as one-of-a-kind as they come. “Don’t have to ask me twice.” she mutters indignantly as she passes Kaos, resisting the urge to throw her flaming ass in his direction.

Yet as Fenyx plummets into the darkness of the portal, she sees nothing and hears nothing. There is only the sensation of falling and it feels agonizingly long. It feels as though she is merely plummeting to her death but in reality, she falls to the ground in a bizarre looking forest in mere seconds (maybe minutes at the worst). Groaning softly, the fireball filly unfolds herself and stands. For several moments more her flames still burn but as her gaze lands on the familiar form of her twin not far off, she calms. Fire flickers into smoke as her body shifts back, starting at her nose and moving backward. There is little more than a small flame flickering from the tip of her tail and a cloud of smoke in her wake by the time she reaches his side. She is silent as she reaches forth to bump his shoulder with her nose.

Yet they aren’t alone. She hadn’t noticed the other figure at first but her impulsive, brash nature does very little to regulate her response to his sudden appearance (though, truthfully, it was the twins’ presence that was an abrupt intrusion.) “Kaos’ flaming ass! Who are you?!” There is a familiar steady heat behind her amber eyes but for now she remains in control. Fenyx merely stares, near unblinking, at the stranger. There is no fear, just a steady distrust. Had she lost Vynter, her own life might have been forfeit but with him still alive, she had every reason to preserve her own life. She just isn’t very good at it, it seems.

the Rift
A thin tendril of the darkness remains, like acrid smoke; it slips into Fenyx's ears, a low roar, like the tide. It crawls through your body, taking, giving, changing, until a violent need to cough overcomes her. The darkness comes up with the harsh breath, and drifts away on the breeze.

As always his sister came into this new world with a bang, yet all the male did was turn to her silently. As the flames fell away into smoke and then nothingness, he leaned himself into her tender touch. It was only when her eyes of gold found the intruder did his own meet him, watching ever so curiously with a tilted skull. He was unperturbed by the filly's outburst, simply ignoring her stance until her side was pressed to his. It clicked into his mind then what her true intentions were, although masking it well she was in fact seeing reassurance. Losing your father can do that to you.

So his maw found her withers, a tender kiss upon them whilst watching the actions of the interesting colored brute. It didn't take long for him to notice the sudden movement around him, the small creatures crawling among the brush and moving towards the man. Instantly he was no longer concerned about Fenyx's guarded concern, and intensely focused on this new find. Fearlessly approaching the man he sniffed one of the mechanical arachnids, icy eyes wide in fascination. He wasted no time in following one all the way to his master, not noticing until the last second how close he was before his nose bopped right against the buckskin's shoulder.

He snorted, head jerking back in surprise before his gaze met the man's. There was only a moments pause from the yearling before he turned to his other half, a small glimmer of interest in his orbs as he bleated,
"Spider robots."

This is short and awful, I apologize. @Ruwin

They appeared from the portal, one after the other. The first trailing ice, the other in flames. Both were young. No adults came through after them. He watched with cool eyes, unperturbed by the flaming filly when she finally took note of him. She was seeking as much strength from her companion that she was showing him now. Her bluster did nothing to stir any form of reaction from the stoic being before them. He simply looked her in the eye, gaze unflinching, emotionless. Yet behind them there was a weight, a presence that could fill a room and quiet a crowd. He would not take any lip or threats from her. She was but a yearling, he a seasoned warrior. And as the presence of the rift swept over them, she was touched by its presence. As her brother was, it would seem.

The other yearling was less hostile as he took notice of the older stallion's presence. In fact he barely paid him any mind as the motion of his mechanical creatures caught the young lad's eye. Ruwin's head cocked as he watched the kid slip and slide as he tried to follow one of his spiders, completely entranced by the metal being. No one had ever been so fascinated with his creations before. He had to admit that it was rather amusing. When Vynter bumped into his he merely looked down at him, the corner of his eyes softening slightly.

He did not move to rebuke or harm the boy who was so enthused by his spiders. Nor did he back up to restore his personal space. The younger one's exclamation actually brought a small smile to his lips. Though it was gone so quickly one would question whether it had even been there at all. Taking command of one of his machines he sent it crawling back towards Vynter. With spindly legs it tapped on his hoof before aiming to crawl up his leg to his shoulder. If the boy did not freak out it would eventually perch between his ears. "Keep it." Ruwin said, happy to find someone that enjoyed his spiders as much as he did.
