the Rift
As you continue to explore, your orbs begin to pulse. The light grows brighter as it bounces off the walls of Halyven, the ivory crumbled structure nearly glowing in the way the light cast against the stone. They pulsed for what seemed like ages before flinging themselves toward the lone tower that had miraculously withstood the war that raged the land before the Rift pulled it in. As if finding the source, the orbs perched atop the tallest peak, melding together for a moment before a flash erupted through Halyven and cascaded to the ground like fireworks, enveloping the land. Birds began to sing far off in the distance, and the orbs pulled back away, separating into each orb to return to their owners, however one extra one split from the others and moved to accompany Vynter on his own quests.

This one was pretty easy :) Hope has been restored to Halyven! You can hear birds singing in the distance now, and it seems to be a bit brighter, almost happier to have the orbs of light. Also! Vynter has received a Piece of Hope!

WAKER
While you look to Otem for your answers, it is Night Sky who supplies them. It doesn't surprise you; she's knowledgeable, that much is obvious. Where Otem is youth and a thirst for knowledge, Night Sky is the fountain which quenches it—in your mind, this somehow makes them alike, just one is exuberant, the other, less so. Your eyes, kind despite the weariness evident in your face, rest on Otem a moment longer.

But it does surprise you to hear that the walls of darkness, the ones you took for granted as magical barriers to this strange and broken land, had not always been there. To you, they've seemed permanent, somehow, impenetrable, unquestioned. To think that something lays beyond them.. it makes your heart ache something fierce, hope better left dead flaring through your bones again.

Maybe it's a way out.

Yet the idea of going home terrifies you. You don't know what you'd find. Your land in ruins, your folk—dead and enslaved? You feel giddy and sick both at once, nodding mutely at Night Sky's suggestion. Dragon Man is already steering your ship that way, steadfast and sturdy, and you follow in his wake.

It seems to have been a good guess. Your shadows start to distort and dance, the orbs of Hope pulsing brighter and brighter with every step you take closer to the spire. Warily, you raise your head, looking around, but the only thing you see is a rangy colt walking into Dragon Man and then slipping around on some very out of place ice.

Seems perfectly normal, somehow. You blow out a sigh through dark nostrils, and shake your head. You're getting used to this place. You're starting to care about it, and its inhabitants. You don't know whether to be pleased or worried, but mostly, you just feel tired. Between the half-healed bite on your neck and the conflict of old home vs new home, you feel ready to just go nap while your Hopelight goes bananas.

You never really make it further down that daydream before the orbs all zip away, drawn to the peak of the spire. "What..?" you mumble, slack-jawed, staring until the brightness hurts your eyes and you're forced to look away. And like in the lake, the orb—singular now—explodes in a silent wave of light, sweeping through the ivory city, and through your bones. It rolls through you like thunder, and you're left blinking in the aftermath, peering at the others, and the city. It seems..brighter, somehow; you hear birds singing, and while it's still a deserted place, it feels less dead and more asleep.

You shrug, and your ball of Hope returns to your side. "Guess that's that," you observe lamely. Your body aches, yet you turn to face the direction you had come from. "We're going back to the beach. You're welcome to tag along, kid," you offer to the colt, perhaps feeling guilty about your rather recent outburst at Varuna, before beginning to trudge back to the sea.

you and atlas are one and the same, my dear

It seemed Vynter had a habit of bumping into him. The giant remained unmoved when the body of the other collided with his own. Neck arching he beamed at the yearling, happy to see him well. But unlike before when the grullo remained entirely fixated on him and his odd limbs, the lad moved on. His attention grabbed by the beautiful, star-lit mare that had offered them so much knowledge. Again he uttered a single word to describe the woman. A silent chuckled shook the stallion's side and he continued onward, certain the Vynter would follow along.

They must have been headed in the right direction because no sooner than he had started up again the balls of hope began freaking out. He watched them shoot off with as much of a slack-jawed gawk as Waker. Completely stunned by their actions. The light once again washed over them. Blinding and warm. He shielded his eyes with a wing until it vanished and the orbs returned to their owners. Leaving one behind to light the world around them. Bird songs began and the world felt a little less gloomy, even peaceful. Well that was... odd.... Like Waker he turned to head back to the matron. Nothing else was left to be done here.

"Bright."

Well that was one way of putting it. She smiled at the yearling who had slid over towards her after bumping into the Clydesdale. "Well hello." She purred, then she spotted the mechanical spider. Her head cocked and she opened her mouth to speak. But before any more words could be shared her piece of hope began to glow brighter like the others. Her ears shot forward as it flew off towards the tower before the world exploded in light once more. She looked away, unbothered. It would seem this was going to be a common occurrence as they brought hope to her home. The words of Waker brought her gaze back around and she nodded. Though they were supposed to return and celebrate their accomplishment she could not help heave a heavy sigh. She was becoming rather tired of all of this.
"Looks like we're in for another long walk back." She said, before looking to Vynter. "You are indeed welcome to come with us, young man." With a swish of her tail she turned and moved up to walk alongside Waker.

He put on a tough face but he had to be exhausted. Her own muscles ached from her swim and travels. She wanted nothing more than to be done with this whole thing. For her sake, as well as Waker's. If this kept up they would all collapse from exhaustion and there would be no one left to carry out the Matron's mission. They better be allowed to rest when they arrived back at the beach. If not, she may not be able to remain silent any longer.
