Can we go back before the morning took you?
And every dream of you was gone

Lineage confirmed, Otem regarded Aei'ith with real interest now, wondering who on earth the father could have been. Aurelia mentioned that she had spent several years away from Helovia, but at this present moment Otem couldn't quite remember what the timeline was. Should Otem know who the father was, too? But the antlers and barring and pale eyes offered no clues. Though to be fair, Otem had only been a newborn back in Helovia. She picked up on details, but assessing Helovia's stallions was not something she normally spent her time doing.

Was dat?

Otem's eyes nearly go cross-eyed as she tried to focus on the small charm swinging back and forth. "It means autumn." Otem explained, trying to pronounce the season in a way that made it different from her own name. Only .. that wasn't really possible.

Otem expects Aei'ith to show her some small token of her own as the filly steps back, but all too quickly her body is covered in flames. Eyes wide, Otem takes a hasty step back, her mind instantly wishing she had control of water just as her mother did. Before she can yell or do much of anything, the flames extinguish and the filly is left unscathed, looking quite proud of herself. "That certainly is a thing." Otem readily agrees with wide-eyed wonder.

At first Otem thought she must have heard wrong. Was she Aurelia's momma? Why would she - Momma's sister? Then the girl finally asked how Otem knew her mother, and suddenly it all made sense. Perhaps like Otem, everyone Aei'ith had met had been part of Aurelia's family. If that was the case, it would make sense that she would think that Otem too must be part of that family. Indeed, when Otem first came to the Rift it was almost impossible for her to bump into someone she wasn't related to. If Aei'ith was already experiencing that in her short life, the dirt-coloured mare felt sorry for her. "No I just met her a few weeks ago." Otem clarified almost uncertainly, and then her face lit up with a smile. "But I had heard of your mother, back in Helovia. They tell stories about her." Otem nodded with grave seriousness, to try and play-up the mythic figure she was trying to paint Aurelia as.

Rocks. White thing. That could be ... well, basically anywhere! "Was it high up? Or by the water? Were there lots of trees, like a jungle?"

Otem explains that her charm means Otem and Aei'ith just watches her with a dumbfounded expression. Otem has an Otem charm? She nods curiosly, watching the thing dangle, now secretly wishing she was cool enough to have a charm that meant Aei'ith. She wonders silently how Otem was able to be so awesome. She had trinkets and she was tall and... well she wasn't good with kids, but she definitely made up for that in beauty and endearing awkwardness. So basically, she was just like Aurelia. Actually, by this logic, everyone was just like Aurelia.

Otem seems to be at least somewhat invested in the child as she shows her the fire that she wields so readily on command. Momma had the same magic and momma was big and strong and powerful,  so the child was glad to share at least this in common with her dam.

As Otem plays up Aurelia's image, the child stares in wide-eyed-wonder, her lips pulled apart as her jaw hangs open in shock. "Momma famous?!" The child instantly saw her mother in a new light. To come from a magic pegasus was already pretty 'cool' but to also come from a legend... well that was a whole new ballpark. "What she do?" She inquired, pleading for more information. Did she save a group of children from some huge threat? Did she lead herds? Was she well-loved with a huge network of allies? Was she just notorious for being famous? The child had no idea that her mother was actually a beast of chaos and terror, unaware that the picture Otem painted of her was actually extremely different from reality.

Aei'ith's face contorts intensely as she Otem asks her more question about where she'd left Aurelia. "No water. No twees." She didn't know what jungle meant quite yet, nor was she sure what qualified as high up. "Building! Big white building!" She stood straight and tall, her baby-fur wings extending upwards in an attempt to demonstrate just how narrow and tall the big white building she referred to was. "And then.. FALL!" She jumped upwards, landing with her legs splayed wide open and her wings spread out sideways now. "Building fall.. leave r-r-rubble... rocks everywhere." Unsure if Otem really understood what she was saying, Aei'ith began to spew out descriptive words that would maybe click better than simply saying white thing and rocks. "City! FALL! Pretty and broken. Fall and rocks fall everywhere! Darkness knock it down. Momma want to fix! Norfwest fro here," She wasn't really sure that what she was saying made sense, but Aurelia had taught her some things, the layout of the Rift is one of those. Momma said something about flats being northwest of the white buildings, so Aei'ith just helplessly repeated what she heard. "Hal-haaaaaaaalllll..." She closed her eyes tightly, trying so hard to remember what the land was called- the fallen city.

Can we go back before the morning took you?
And every dream of you was gone

"So many things, Otem begins, trying to stall and recall what it was she had learned about the mare. Isopia had told her of the fight between Aurelia and Kahlua ... and there had been ... had she tried to take over a herd? Hadn't she stolen things ... things from people she shouldn't have been able to take things from? Otem's memory was hazy on the subject, but she didn't think that Aei'ith would mind. "Your mama was more clever than almost anyone. She could outsmart them, and she was so brave. Once she took on a queen, and you know what? The queen was never the same after meeting your mama." That much was true at least. As Otem had told Aurelia, Kahlua never fought again after what had happened to Aurelia's companion.

No water and no trees. For a moment Otem was dumbfounded. Nearly everywhere she had been so far was either surrounded by water or by greenery. How could it be that wherever Aurelia was, it lacked those two things? About to give up, suddenly something that the filly said made Otem's mind snap into focus.

Buildings

Wait.

Buildings? Yes! There was only one place so far Otem had found with buildings, and she remembered it because it so reminded her of the Rotunda from home. As Aei'ith tried to sound the word out, Otem's voice mingled with her own. "Was it called Halyven?" Otem breathed, almost not daring to let herself hope that they had finally stumbled upon the right answer.

Otem basically describes Aurelia as smart, brave, and memorable. Of course, the truth is that these traits were all actually negative ones when used to describe her momma, but Aei'ith had no clue. She listened with is huge smile, excited to know more about her the mare who birthed her and continued to care for her without a father.

As Aei'ith tries to describe where she had wandered away from Aurelia, it takes Otem a bit to figure it out. At first, Otem was helplessly watching the toddler fail and move about dramatically with no use, but then everything switched a little as Aei'ith began trying her hardest to describe the lands. Otem's confusion and general what the fuckness morphed into an enlightened expression as she says Was it Halyven? Aei'ith smiles greatly, excited to see Otem win their game of charades.

"Yes!" The word leaves ehr lips enthusiastically and loudly, a little too much so, but the girl was excited. "Halyvahblahblah!" Aei'ith couldn't really say Halyven at all, despite trying to mimic the way Otem said it. When she tried to say it, the first half of the word was recognizable but the second half was a mash-up and completely random letters that weren't in the name in the first place.

"Momma say, 'Aei'ith with me stay!' but I explore and no get back." She shrugged awkwardly, offering the brief reason why she was away from Aurelia. Unlike the past, Aurelia was actually trying to be decent now. She'd abandoned enough children to last a lifetime and decided she didn't want to lose Aei'ith at all. This was unfortunate for Aei'ith who just wanted to wander away from her and explore constantly. Aurelia has never truly been an amazing mother, but she is trying her hardest now and despite losing Aei'ith on the occasion like this (no one said the mare was perfect) she had been doing an excellent job.

"ONWARDS!" She bursted out, excited to travel with Otem who was all wise and worldly. Aei'ith lifts her head high and proud, her steps dramatically march-like as she begins walking away. She has no idea if it's the right way back, but she sure is having a fun time assuming so. "Awtttttttum and Padowaaa! This way!" She looks back, expecting the duo to follow her.

<3 sorry for the wait, i suck
