The girl had been on her own for much longer than she could remember. Her mother had disappeared somewhere within the Rift and so had her brother not long after. For several weeks after their joint disappearance Requiem had searched high and low for them. She had wandered near and far, searched in bushes and under rocks but had found hide nor hair of either of them. At first it had been hard for her to accept that she was on her own, but the more time passed the more she grew accustomed to being by herself. She became stronger mentally, physically, and emotionally as a result.

But when she thought about it, she wondered if she were truly alone. There were plants everywhere and she always thought that they appreciated the rain that she brought them. They were her sheep and she their shepherd. In her mind she throught that, as they grew and reached toward the sky, they were thanking her, especially now. The scorch was in full swing, it was hot, there were wildfires breaking out, and it wasn't raining nearly enough to nourish the plant-life. Several times she had passed through land and had seen evidence of fires that had scorched the land and plants, and so she had taken it upon herself to try to bring the land back to life.

A gentle rain was falling as Requiem moved through the mist. In her wake plants reached toward the sky, and seedlings sprouted from the dirt at her hooves. She didn't know where she was, nor did she know where it was that she was going. She simply walked and allowed her enchanted rain to wash over the land, the plants, and herself.

Branches reached from the roiling mist and the young woman ducked her head beneath them with the intention of continuing her trek. Bu the whisper of Uwaritace in her mind, so sudden and unexpected made the girl stop in her tracks. "Uwaritace?" She repeated, her voice soft yet inquisitive. "Hello?" She turned to look behind her, thinking that maybe someone had crept up and whispered the name, but there was no one to be found, only mist. "Is someone there?"

Roscorro
The last time he had been beneath the darkened bows to the giant tree had been when the Matrons had decorated it with magic. A thanks for bringing hope back into their world. Now it stood, along and barren. Its darkened trin towering high above him. It made him, a 18 hh Clydesdale, feel small. It was a strange feeling, but not entirely unpleasant. He liked standing next to the massive guardian, it helped him to remember that there were bigger things out there. It put him in perspective and made him think. Though he was hardly the type to think highly of himself or get a big head, it never did him any harm to feel a bit more humility.

The tree whispered to him her name. Uwaritace. It was a gentle voice, not even a voice. A premonition that seemed to drift into his mind as softly and quietly as the mist that pooled around his feet. The gigantic tribrid continued to ret beneath the bows of the dark tree, like a chick beneath its mother's wing. He had found his way here after escaping the green labyrinth and its master, the Magnus Metus. He had been given a trial to challenge the creature and had received a parting gift for his troubles. His wings were tucked tightly against his body, his thick neck arched in a graceful curve, as he tried to peer down at his chest to assess the extent of the damage. Blood still oozed from the large, deep claw marks that he had received from the Metus It stained his pelt as it flowed downward until it fell to the earth in a slow, drip, drip, drip. the bleeding had slowed since had stopped his flight. No longer agitated by the constant movement as his powerful muscles in his chest and shoulders flexed and moved.

His sides heaved as he breathed deeply. His body trembled slightly as the last of the battle left his blood. He was left to feel the pain, exhaustion and fear that he had otherwise not experienced while filled with adrenaline. As so he stood beneath the tree, soaking in the silence as his heart stilled and his mind calmed. He would need to treat this wound, but he was not sure how to go about doing so. he had been taught basic healing by his adopted mother, but it had never been practiced. And the rift was so different from his homeland that he did not know where to start looking for herbs to help his wounds heal. So he simply stood there, gazing at his own blood as it leaked from his flesh. How to best clean this.

A light rain began to fall, kissing his skin with its cool touch. His flanks twitched at the new sensation, but otherwise he did little to acknowledge the pleasant sprinkle. He was more interested in something else. Where his blood had touched the earth, where the rain now misted it, plants were sprouting. He had never seen this before. Did his blood have some sort of new ability he did not know about? No. As he watched he noticed that everywhere the rain touched, plants grew. It was amazing! Never before had he been able to witness a plant grow from seedling to mature. He watched the little miracles before him in wonder. Then a feminine voice called out, pulling his gaze away from the spectacular scene. "I'm here." he answered clearly. He made no move to seek out the owner of the voice. If she desired, she could come to him. He did not desire to happen upon someone in the mist. He'd surely startle her and he never wanted that. Plus, to move would mean he would reopen the parts of his injuries that had begun close. He did not want to put himself through the pain again.

"I'm here."

The voice that answered her was deep, gruff, unmistakably masculine, and very different from the one that had whispered Uwaritace in her mind. Still, the girl was curious and ventured forth through the mist, carefully stepping over rocks and tree roots that jutted haphazardly from the ground. She could see the dark outline of another horse standing beside the thick trunk of a tree, but any definition or fine detail was obscured by the mist. "Hello?" She called out to the form while she continued to slowly approach, her ruby eyes scanning for any sign of danger or trouble.

Uncertainty swirled within her chest, making her heart beat just a little bit harder and her breath come a little more frequently and sharply. The closer she moved toward the looming figure in the mist the bigger it seemed to grow, making it very clear that if she were to stand next to him he would tower over her like a giant. That, coupled with the unmistakeable scent of blood that was beginning to permeate the air was enough to make the young girl feel nervous, but not enough to make her turn and leave.

The mist and fog cleared as she drew nearer and when he vision was no longer obscured by it she found herself standing face to face with a stallion, who she could tell immediately held dragon blood within his veins. Crimson eyes swept over the horns, the clawed and scaled forelegs, then finally the expanse of scarred and bleeding flesh. Requiem frowned as she observed the stallion, wondering who he had fought that had left those marks on him.

"You're bleeding." She said dumbly, because obviously he knew that he was bleeding. "What happened?"
