AURELIA
Aurelia had begun to spend more and more time here, curious about the spires erection and their downfall. How had the Riftians pre-plague built them? How exactly had the chaos make them fall? The mystery that surrounded the mostly crumbled area was what drew her in. Halyven was like a puzzle, desperate to be solved.

The mare had done a lot since her last visit here with Rixen. She had given birth, met a multitude of horses, conversed with matriarchs, debated how to heal the Rift, and so much more. She'd already grown in a variety of ways since the spires had last been awarded her presence. One thing that had never changed was her desire to rebuild this. But how how how? How do you rebuild something on a land that doesn't want to be rebuilt?

As she wandered through the maze of shards and remnants of what was once great, she considered the ways to rebuild it. Magic, groups of horses, help from the supernatural, gods? Every option was plausible and could be organized, but she wasn't sure if she was the only one who wanted to do this. She knew others shared her passion for the resurrection of the greatness, like Otem, but she wasn't sure what kind of revival of these lands they wanted. Were wanting to fix the visual aspects of the land just as important as fixing the darkness? Was she simply on a dead-end path?

WAKER
You're flying—as usual. You only land to eat, drink, and sleep, and believe me, if there had been some way you could've slept a-wing, you would've done it. It was something about the rhythm of your heart and your wings, the cool touch of air skimming over your feathers and your sweat-soaked skin, the land flashing by beneath—it brought you calm, when precious little else could. You've lost some weight, become ropy, tenacious, but you suppose that's only natural, when fly is all you do.

The white city looms on the horizon again, and you dip a little lower. You'd never seen such intricate formations and designs before coming here, had never even dreamed of them, but since you crashed into the Rift you've come to realize that a lot of things you had never imagined are real. This is just one of them, a crumbled, haunting city, broken by some tragedy you try not to fabricate, because whatever you think has happened will probably only be so incredibly off-target you'll embarrass yourself. It doesn't matter that you won't share your made-up fate of the city with anyone—you'll still be embarrassed.

But you're also still very much a child, so you dip lower, the tips of your black wings brushing against a crumbling wall here, a lonely, broken spire there. It is your playground, your dreamworld, and you can see the wailers coming down the hills, filling the streets, and you navigate another sharp bend, only—

—to find life. Aurelia, the outspoken, golden mare, is walking the broken and empty lanes. Startled, you flare your wings, loosing momentum before touching down on the hard surface with sharp clicks. You jog a couple of steps—click-click-click-click—to get rid of the last of the speed, and then you're standing still, a black statue in a white city, head cocked, eyes trained on the mare. For all the times you've flown over it, for all the times you've swept around its corners and climbed up along its spires, you've never stepped on the strange ground—rock, smooth and foreign underfoot.

"Hi," you say after a moment, slightly winded, suddenly shy. You're just a kid, and she's a woman grown; why on earth would she want to talk to you?

AURELIA
Aurelia wasn't excited to meet anyone anymore. A few years ago, she'd bloomed whenever able to meet someone knew, her young mind impressionable. Now, however, she is less than excited to see Waker, a dark pegasus she'd briefly seen when Otem had called together that strange meeting thing. Aurelia knew a lot of horses, so why would the idea of meeting another ever excite her? Still, she approaches with a surprisignly open mind and calm attitude, curious to see what the boy would do when conversing with the chaotic mare.

He approaches cautously, not too quickly though not too slowly for it to be strange and stalker-like. She angles herself at him, her strange eyes focusing on his intricate markings and strange colors. He was unlike anything she'd really seen before. Perhaps if she had met a mare like Ampere, Waker would seem more normal, but she never did meet the Mother of Companions (and if she did in some meeting or gathering, she does not remember it), so Waker was a first for her.

The only thing to leave his lips is a simple hi which makes Aurelia hold back a groan. Would she have to pull words from his mouth? Would she feel as though the converation was awkward and one-sided? She hated the quiet types. "Hello," she says simply, though offers not much more. She wasn't going to dip her cranium to the boy, she wasn't going to bump snouts with him, she wasn't going to do any of that because it all felt kind of awkward. "Waker, yes?" The question isn't random. He didn't re-introduce himself so she felt the need to clarify to see if she remembered it correctly. She couldn't remember if it was Waker or Walker or something like that, so she figured it was best to simply ask.

She looks away from her company, her eyes trailing the intricacies in the spire. "What do you think of Halyven? Tell me honestly." The question is abrupt and straightforward, it demands an answer and cannot be really avoided. If for some strange reason he did not want to talk about the spire or Helyven, it would probably be hard to dance around the question.

WAKER
The high of flying has left you feeling subdued, like you've been abruptly pulled from your dreams—shaken awake without an adrenaline spike, just a kind of fogginess to cloud your brain. You're not sure what it is, but you suddenly feel very intimidated by her. She seemed so confident at the meeting, like someone who had experienced much and seen more, someone who had been through a lot. She'd spoken of herds and gods and spoken so firmly. You swallow, but draw near anyway, pausing at few steps away. In your mind, she's a giant; in reality, she's about your height.

"Yes," you respond when she asks about your name. Despite the fact that your heart has picked up its pace, your voice is even; quiet-like, gentle, as it tends to be when you're not being a mischievous fiend (or an angry nightmare). "And you're Aurelia." It isn't a question, because you know precious few names here, so the ones that you do know are branded into your memory. Otem, Aurelia, Rixen, Taivas, Raein, Kiada—that was about it, really.

So few, compared to the vastness of this realm.

You try to not think about that.

And fortunately, Aurelia rescues you with a question. "What do you think of Halyven? Tell me honestly." It is direct, it is sudden, and you feel a small frown thread its way over your face. No how are you doing? or have you learned anything since the meeting?, just hey, what do you think of this place? You draw a deep breath, feeling like it's somehow important to give a good answer, and that's why you're frowning.

Still frowning slightly, you turn your dark heard to survey the lane you're standing in. Crumbled stone, still strangely bright and white and silver. Architecture the likes you'd never dreamed of, or seen the need of. Toppled spires, broken walls, and the one, whole tower looming high above. Your eyes trail it towards the sky with its cruel sun.

"It's unlike anything I ever saw back home, so foreign I never even dreamed of anything like it," you say after a moment, and if you sound a little hesitant, it's only because you're not sure how much of a detailed answer she wants. That, and the fact that thinking about home still hurts. "I think.. it's probably a bit broken, a little of a mess, but I like it. It's great for flying." The last said with a small, cheeky grin. It's entirely possible she saw you dart around corners and climb around the spires before you spotted her, and aside from the sheer pleasure of flexing yourself in flight, it's begun to feel like something sort of forbidden to do. Reckless, and all. "Why? What do you think?" you follow your answer up with, fixing your gaze on her. Your turn.
