rexanna
time stops still and gives you hope, that haze due —
She wandered for what felt like weeks, day in and day out with no sign of life in sight aside from Marembo who alternated spending time on her back and running alongside her. The tiny polecat was doing his best to relax his bonded, who was a physical mess. She hadn’t seen her children in months, even her beloved mate had vanished, leaving her alone aside from Marembo who continued to have her side no matter what. Though the mare began to wonder if it was only due to being bonded to her that kept him near, and if he had the choice would he continue to stay? She hadn’t heard his voice since they fell through the portal, and she wondered if he could hear hers anymore either. A glum, solemn darkness swept over the gilded ex-Thief.

Though life didn’t seem to make things easy for Rexanna, as she continued to venture out and find new places to go in search of her children, she began to stumble in a place far too familiar for her liking. No, she hadn’t been in the Rift before, but this land was a place she had been in for quite some time. She felt her breath catch in her throat as her bright blue gaze swept over the ruins. She’d know this place anywhere. Halyven, a place of her birth and the place that brought so much destruction into her life. She’d know it anywhere. Marembo felt the sudden apprehension that the mare felt and did his best to console her, reaching a tiny black paw to stroke her neck gently. It was enough to unfreeze Rexanna’s legs as she trudged further into the white city.

She moved slowly, stepping beside buildings she had spent much of her life in. On the left was where armor was made, and on the right was the courtyard that she spent much of her childhood in. The spire that crumbled before her was the place her adoptive parents had lived in and presumably died in. The only tower that remained was the King’s old chambers. She felt drawn to it in a dark way, her heart yearning for revenge on the King for the murder of her mother and – in turn – the murder of her first born child. A gruff sigh escaped her lips as she trudged forward, brows furrowed as she stared at the white walls. “I hope you died here.” She grumbled, mostly to herself but spoke it aloud. It seemed to feel better, that nagging pull at the back of her mind. And she felt as though there was nothing more to do than to stand and reminisce of the land, remembering which places she had spent a majority of her life.

"Talk."
— so black, so blue.
you were always the fool.
