Nyu found her way around the Rift, a bright white figure in a world of endless darkness. She stopped amidst a forest of many colors and glowing flowers beneath her hooves. Suddenly soft lights began to surround her and dance in front of her face. She snorted and shook her head, but they still remained; twinkling in and out of existence. Before Nyu knows it, there are hundreds all around her but they don't appear to be creatures, just light. They spread upon her back and lightly grace her skin, they feel like warmth and sunshine; something she hadn't seen since she got here. The lights that surround her begin to make a sound, almost a humming sound but she hears words within them. "The Rift devoured your magic, what if we could give it back?" Nyu jumped in a circle to try to catch one of the glowing lights. "GIVE!" she shouted at the hundreds that covered her white body. "Steal a Harpax feather.." they whispered and gently blinked out of existence. "Wait!" she pleaded. What is a harpax?

She panicked, she knew that whatever a harpax was that it sounded dangerous and she would not be able to complete the task on her own. The thought of having her magic back made her soul hungry. It longed for the magic it obtained that was so ruthlessly stolen from it. Nyu stomped her foot in the mud. She was determined enough but she was not strong enough. Too young and fragile, she would need the help of another; or more than one.

LUMINAR
Solanis was a place he had never explored before. It's glowing flowers and flora seemed alien. He felt uneasy here. It seemed as if Luminar had been walking his whole life. Searching for something the soul wanted.
Needed.
But his brain just didn't know what that was. Since Silver had left him he had no purpose in life. He just walked. Finally his trekking had brought him to the rift. This cold, sunless place must be his last stop on the long road of life. He had felt his sense of purpose draining out of him with each excruciating step he took forward. He never felt at home anywhere, never felt at ease with anyone. His military background and spotty allegiance had left him feeling on edge all the time and gaunt. He had been out of work for months, and at only four years old, he was in his prime. When the fighting pits had sold him off to a general after he started killing other competitors slaves he thought he had finally found his chance to be free. Alas, he was not free, but in the clutches of another. His natural abilities had made him highly sought after for doing dirty work that higher-ups didn't want to bother themselves with. When someone wanted to get the blood off their own hands they looked to Luminar.

He earned his freedom but quickly came to realize that the life of battle was the only life he knew. He was quick to anger, and quick to violence.

He was looking for the white filly who lost her words. She was a unique specimen, and he didn't mind her simple company. He felt he could be his quiet self around her, as she was quite quiet too. So he weaved through strange looking glowing flowers, looking for a white pelted equine with blood red eyes. He rounded a bend and spotted her through the brush- she was trying to capture one of the little glowing insect like beings that covered her. Luminar felt his adrenaline surge, were they hurting her?

He stepped out of the brush and marched up to the dancing alabaster filly. " Are you okay? " He asked, he found he was quite concerned about her well being, which actually caught him by surprise.
"Talk."

SHE'S A COLD, HARD BITCH, BUT JUST A KISS ON THE LIPS AND I WAS ON MY KNEES.
It kills me not to know this, but I've all but just forgotten, what the color of her eyes were, and her scars or how she got them.

Nyu heard large hoof-beats coming toward her. That must be Luminar! "Fine!" Nyu shouted as he approached, looking big and defensive. They blinked out of existence the very second he got there. The white filly was pleased to see her friend again and very lucky he found her. She needed help now and there was no way she was going to do this alone. Her mind was bright and mature to her age but her words and sometimes actions, not so much. She struggled to put together one word or two words to explain what she was looking for and why she needed it. Nyu figured she would start off with asking him if he even knew what a Harpax is, because if not, they were going to need to find a native.
She finally found two words that seemed pretty okay to use. "What harpax?" she asked. Nyu didn't know what to expect from the answer but she could always hope that it was some cuddly soft vegetarian that she could just nicely ask a feather from, but she know the Rift was trickier than that. She knew it had to be something dangerous.

Cielo

The voices startled him a little when he first heard them having been woke from a light slumber and not knowing at once if what he heard were benine shouts or something worse. It was amazing that  he had even managed to sleep in the first place considering how bright the solar flowers were but being a native afforded him a few tricks. Cielo had simply stepped on the frond of one of the larger ferns and stood on it while beneath the cover of yet another leaf to spare him from the ceaseless rain. Surprisingly he had managed to dry a bit in the time he had rested, reliving that eerie creeping feel he now had whenever he was damp and returned to the beautiful opaque white he was when dry - not that that would last at all. As soon as he stepped out of the relative protection of the fern leaf he would become translucent again, like a milky mirror. He supposed he shouldn't complain as it had the unintentional of helping to camouflage him and in the Rift that was an invaluable trait though it would never protect you from the Rift itself. He should know and he did all too well.

Ears perked Cielo strained to hear more of the voices or whatever he had heard, flicking them this way and that for a few more moments till he heard them again and more importantly a particular word - harpax. Why was someone talking about Harpaxs? That was bad luck to say it out loud, least in his mind. The Rift was always listening and had no shortage of mean-spirited agendas.  He made to move forward and tell whoever was close by just that and broke into a trot only to stop a few feet ahead as a flurry of feathers leapt up from the foliage. His heart raced thinking of Harpaxs but that was a wrong assumption as the myriad of greens and blues sharpened into a flock of carvavo who looked doely at him when they'd stopped cawing out in surprise. Their small heads and long beaks were poised in the air, regarding Cielo as they twisted their heads from side, a few close enough and apparently unaware of it cluelessly bumping into him as they did so and ran off startled again. "" Shoo.""  He said,Shoo." . They neither understood the words or left him alone and followed him as he tried to leave so he  begrudgingly accepted their presence.

Cielo rolling his eye Cielo headed toward where he thought the voices had come from and was pleasantly surprised to find out he had guessed right. In front of him was a young filly who was a stark white with red eyes and a tall, husky black stallion whose face seemed to glow but that easily could have been the glare from the flowers as he was seeing spots everywhere.

" I hope you're about to say Hapaxes are terrible creatures you don't want to be eaten by. It is something you should know." The carvavo that had followed behind him fanned out in the clearing and pecked at whatever they found appetizing in the brush, blissfully ignoring or tolerating the presence of the other two.

LUMINAR
Upon seeing the filly, Luminar's alabaster lips turned up into a smile. He lifted his great tree trunk legs higher and pushed into a floating, illogically agile trot, eating the distance between them. He opened his mouth to speak but heard a commotion near by. Someone had stirred up what he called Dummy Birds. Shutting his mouth he whirled around to the strangest looking creature he'd ever seen. Milky cosmos eyes scanned this being - he was... translucent. Opaque. Strange. Milky white but not at the same time. He seemed to be... clear. Kind of. Furrowing his heavy brows, Luminar listened to the creature's words. He didn't know what a harpax was, but this guy did apparently. "And who are you?" Luminar asked, incredulous. He glanced at Nyu, wondering what she thought of this creature.

He was not expecting company in this glowing wood, but then again, anything could happen here in the rift.

Eaten
A hard lump of saliva moved down her throat. "No Eat!!" She shouted and moved behind Luminar and pressed her head into his flank. As if this would shield her from hungry words she remained there, only popping up for one second to meet the opaque creatures gaze again. She couldn't quite tell if this stallion was dead.. or alive? He appeared like a ghost but moved like a body. If only she had her magic she could grab the dagger nestled in her vines and kill the Harpax before it had a chance to eat her! Visions of doing this and succeeding played in her mind. Soon she remember that her magic was the whole reason she had come here in the first place. Nyu's soul was starved for magic and she was going to get it back.

Her red eyes ducked below Luminar's throat latch and stared at the man. She tilted her head slightly and curved her ears towards him. Deciding he was okay she came from around him, making eye contact with Luminar as she went. Her bloody eyes looked into his milky universe. Nyu began to notice the two bird like creatures that had come with the ghost-man. "Eaten" played back in her head sharply. If she could feed them then what reason would they have to feed on her? She glanced at the stallion with the glowing face and the other with the clear body, each ear pointed in their directions. Her eyes then moved to the abnormally large birds. "Feed..First.." She stuttered, hoping they could see the big picture. Luminar always had a way of understanding her and making her feel more confident. After all ever since they met she had been speaking in two-word answers rather than one. Nyu was maturing, and it was all thanks to the stallion that found her when she was all alone.
