Castiella

She had to get away from the ignorance of that fucking man. Her bright teals eyes rolled as the girl went off to adventure. It is about damn time that all the glowing things are gone. The girl giggled and skipped with fluffy light steps. Her wings stretched out allowing the blood knight marking to get some air. It was about time she could stretch everything out. That one place was getting way to cramp for her liking. There was always someone around the corner. There was someone who always wanted to talk about stupid shit. Everyone was so BORING. They were scared of everything, frightened of their own shadow, and they thought that they could handle Castiella. The mere thought made her chest shake with laughter. Those stupid IDIOTS! Her maw snarled as her features twisted into a deviant grin.

The girl might look sugar sweet and sparkling with the child like joy. To say she was a good girl would over exaggerate the truth.  There was nothing good, pure, sweet or innocent about her. Her soul was as black as the blood running through her veins. Her long floating tail and mane danced around her skipping body.  Her mane was so white; each strand was so pure. Her masked face was pristine and pure. Then you look at the marking of the devil on her sweet features. Three coal black rings band across her muzzle. It made her giggle and happy to know that even the DEVIL did not want to deal her any cards.

Black hair runs from her ears like she is bleeding from them. They perk forward as she slows her gate. Black bands on her front legs are in a stark comparison to the black and white rear legs.  The mist started to float around her and swallow her body. She giggled as she welcomed the darkness. The dark cloud sent goose bumps through her spine. It touched her, loved her, and caressed her sparking body. The gold sparks lowered as she moved closer to the large tree. She could hear something moving in the brush. Quietly the girl stood there. She was not scared; she did not fear the darkness. Instead, she giggled and allowed her face to twist into her famous cheshire grin. "Hello? Come out, come out where ever you ARE." Teal colored orbs glowed with splatters of crimson. The fallen angel stood WAITING to PLAY with her next FRIEND...

another mind, another soul, another body to grow old.
it's not complicated.

If everyone was more honest, the world would be a very different place. For instance, Otem would have been intrigued by the mildly psychotic mind of her new friend had she known about it. She might have even be willing to describe just how black her own soul was. But both girls were putting on a sugary performance for the benefit of the other, and so both filly's true personalities remained hidden.

So from Otem's perspective, this girl was a little much. Like a truck load too much. Otem didn't want to make friends or explore with this girl. She wanted to explore on her own or with her twin (wherever he was). But even so, a smile was firmly fixed on Otem's features, and she followed her circle-mouthed companion as she led the pair of them into this new world.

"I wonder what Kaos meant when he said that we had helped heal the land ... what could any of us have done to push the fog back?"  Otem very much doubted the pink girl knew, but the sunlight and soil coloured girl hated awkward silences. She'd rather hear Castiella's theories about it than continue to listen to the sound of her own blood pumping in her ears.

As they halted by a rather strange looking tree, Otem's gaze narrowed as she tried to discern what it was the other girl was looking at. On her withers Pandora hooted uncertainly. So far they'd found that the local wildlife was more than just a little strange.

From the dark mists around you comes first a sad, low tune. A rumbling song from a creature, most likely, unknown to you. From behind the great, dead tree the song echoes - foreboding and eerie. Something or someone in the mists knows you are here and it is uncertain whether or not it tolerates your presence.

Then the ground starts to shake and the air vibrates. Several sets of round feet are coming towards you. Through the mists you finally see them; a herd of gray-green animals with a splash of pink around their eyes and on their chins. They stampede towards you - intent on protecting their newborn calves.

The specotes are usually docile, gentle giants of sorts, but you have disturbed their nesting and now you must be fleet of foot to escape this furious horde.

Castiella

Her brow rose listening to the autumn colored girl. Castiella was perfectly fine walking to her self and being quiet. Well, not really. Small quiet giggles broke the stillness in the air. Long tresses on her tail flicked over her sparking body as she stood looking at this tree. This was no fun, fuck... what was fun? No one wanted to play her games; no one wanted to do anything. Adults were ass holes telling her that she needed to be with her mom. Fuck them... she could lite that guy's ass up with sparks if she wished, but no... There was way too many adults around. Finally, after a few moments of silence, she giggled softly as bright crimson splattered eyes looked over. "Maybe the portal mutation and taking our magic healed the land? My brother has started looking like a damn CAT. He also turns into a ghost when he is angry. That never happened before. This place is fucking sick..." Her voice trailed off with a Cheshire grin and a giggle. "So maybe it is not us... maybe it is what's IN us..." The features on her masked skull twisted into a deviant grin.

"I'm Castiella." Her sugar sweet voice trailed off as she started walking around this tree. Sparks glowed in the shadows of the tree. She was doing really good with this whole nice thing. It was not too difficult... Her acting was superb, and maybe, just maybe if she knew that this girl shared the same personality qualities things would be different. Cas was never a real fan of someone who was truly genuine. It was boring. She skipped around the tree with child-like joy before peeking from the other side. The shadows allowed a sneak peak of the girl's insanity flashes upon her face. Teal eyes glowed, her white face contorted delicate features into something more hellish. Black bands across her muzzle lifted with her smile. The smile that was not sugar sweet, the smile that was back and dark like her heart. Pure white strands of silk fell into her face like a curtain. It was the end of the real act... for now.

A low rumble filled the air. Her head flashed to the girl "Did your companion make that sound?." she asked looking into the mist and shadows. Fuck! What was going on now? This damn place always had SOMETHING going on. Blood splashed eyes rolled as her sparking body turned around. Eerie calls fill the air with low hues. Double fuck... What was about to try to eat them now? Vibrations started to rumble under her tri-toned hooves. The black flowers the grew from the black shit began to shake and more with the ground. Double fuck, this thing was massive. Black and white legs cantered over to the bay girl to stand next to her. Blood wings clamped her sides while sparks roared from her pelt. Castiella simply looked over with a small giggle. "Something has come out to PLAY..." Her voice trailed off as she looked into the beast's eyes. There was a stampede of creatures heading their way. The girl grabbed the large chain from her back with a small chuckle. Bring it on.... Blood splattered eyes narrowed as she threw the large constricting chain at the first few beasts. Hopefully, it would wrap around their hooves and trip the stampeding monsters. It would give them a bit more time to get out of the way. "RUN! Get the fuck out of the way!." She giggled taking off into the mist. Cas looked around to see if the Bay was following. Her masked skull turned back around to see a small clearing. Then, large blood colored wings unfolded to hopefully take flight and get the FUCK out of dodge. This was FUN...

Although Castiella's sudden bursts of giggles and the way her voice seemed to rise and fall, as if part of some bizarre sound, made her sound fairly untrustworthy, what she had to say did make a lot of sense. Nothing had happened to Otem when she came through the Rift, but that was probably more of an exception than the norm. Most she had seen and talk to had suffered from some sort of mishap, from small mutations to losing their magic all together. As Otem listened, still offput by her new companion's bizarre way of acting, she had to admit the girl probably had a point.

"Wait, a cat? That's so.." She was about to say weird, but as Castiella said this place is fucking sick, Otem could only nod her head in agreement.

"I'm Otem. And this is Pandora." Otem replied, watching as the girl pranced around the tree. Inside she was praying that the pink girl didn't ask her to play tag or hide and seek or something else equally childish. Otem could feel her muscles tension just at the thought of having to pretend to enjoy such tedious games, when all of a sudden Castiella stopped and grinned at her from just behind the tree. Her expression was chilling and so unlike the sugary-sweet facade she had previously been wearing. Otem wanted to stare - to take in every single detail, but that would be rude. But this sudden change of expression was so interesting, that Otem had to fight with herself to pull her gaze away, as if pretending she hadn't even noticed the abrupt change in Cas's expression. As the girl asked whether or not the sudden rumbling sound had come from Pandora, Otem shook her head, her words flat, boarding on the sarcastic: "She's an owl. She doesn't make sounds like a whale stuck in a mountain."

Otem might have said more, but suddenly the ground began to shake. The girl extended her wings to both help with balance and to prepare to flee should that prove necessary. After all, none of them really knew what to expect from this place.

What appeared through the mist looked like a the bastard lovechild of a rhino and a fish. It was so unbelievable that at first Otem didn't head Cas's warning to run - she was far too enthralled by such wildly miraculous looking creatures. Their bellows continued as their massive bodies solidified in the mists, meaning only one thing: they were really close now. She watched with awe and surprise as Castiella suddenly produced a chain and through it towards the closest creature. On her back, Pandora took flight rising high into the trees. The owl hooted from above, sending mental images from her new vantage point. Between the larger creatures were smaller ones - ones who were being surrounded and protected by the larger creatures. Understanding dawned on Otem (or what she thought was understanding), for she'd seen some of the animals display this same behaviour back in the Throat.

"No wait! There are babies!"

Otem staggered backwards, her head low trying to appear as though she wasn't a threat. Although she wanted to keep an eye on what was happening, she also knew that staring anything in the face would likely be interpreted as a hostile act. "We must have disturbed them. Maybe this tree is theirs or something ... If we go away slowly-" Otem didn't dare look up, but just in case these creatures did have their eyes on her, she decided to give them something else to look at. Scrounging what she had come across from her memories, mourning flowers and glowing stones began to coat the ground. The stones didn't really belong in this sort of terrain, and so they hardly glowed at all. Still, Otem hoped that if they didn't see her organic gift as a peace offering, that they might be distracted by it long enough for she and Castiella to make their escape.

Keeping low and backing away slowly might have worked for you, silly fillies, had it not been for Castiella's chain. The enraged specotes are gripped with panic as their male leader fall victim to the snare. The adults of the herd roars in fear and the calves squeal.

Maybe the mother tree can hear her faithful dwellers’ cries or maybe it is only by chance, but a large branch falls from above; crashing down on the chain. If you are still holding it, o sweet filly, your teeth will be hurt maybe even one or two of them will break with the unexpected pull.

Another branch falls, clipping Otem’s left wing.

The herd has not been stopped. The downed bull kicks the chain away and rises in the midst of the panic. As he bellows out his anger a young calf is trampled at the back of the herd. Its mother is to panicked to notice.

The specotes are nearing Otem now, will Castiella help her? Will she be able to fly away with one injured wing? It seems the Rift purrs with delight around you and the malice in the air is almost tangible.

Castiella

Fuck, fuck, fuck... This was just getting worse. Their small conversation turned into an event that might cost the girls their life. Otem was the bay girls name. That companion she had was an owl... its name was Pandora. "Well I think I found what sounds like a whale stuck on a mountain!" Her voice sputtered out as she ran past the bay girl. Cas did not even hear what the girl was saying. She made out a few words. Otem said something about going slow. Fuck NO! There was nothing slow about those running beasts. Castiella giggled slightly looking behind her.

Arcta did her job. The largest beast was tangled and trapped on the ground by her constricting clutch. The bull struggled and fought, but the chain did not give in.. until the magic wore off. "Otem get out of there!!! ." Her blood colored wings began to lift her body from the heavy ground. Her white mask flashed to look behind her. FUCK!! FUCK! Crimson colored eyes watched the branch fall from the tree. It clipped the left wing of her friend. Well, it looked like there is a big problem now. Casteilla thought about just flying away, just ignoring what was about to unfold. Her Sparking body was already above the trees. Teal orbs looked forward with a deviant grin. The girl should have listened the first time around. She giggled flying higher and higher.

Then, her mind started twisting and turning. Castiella had no guilt about killing. She loves the feeling of warm blood bathing her rose gold body. Smiling brighter she flew towards the mayhem. Then blood splattered eyes caught sight of the companion. The owl would tell on Cas for leaving its bonded here to die. Maybe if Castiella knew that the companion would die along with its master, she would not even hesitate to get out of there. But this knowledge was unknown to her. Sooo FUCK.. She had to try and help the girl. Her voice rumbled muttering to herself before assessing the situation.

There was a dead babe left behind from the herd. These stupid beasts thought they were protecting the young. They were KILLING THEM! She giggled slightly rolling her eyes. First, a diversion to maybe gives Otem enough time to get out of the way. Castiella dives down in front of the herd. Her masked skull smiled to Otem as she sends a wave of blue electricity from under her wings, but something was off. Castiella flickered into a dove. A DAMN DOVE! While this is happening, the electric doves fly around the herd. Hopefully, it was enough to distract the beasts. Growing closer to the ground her form flicked back to normal. Her hooves landed where the dead calf was. Deviant eyes looked to the herd in front of her. Idiotic creatures... "HEY!! OVER HERE!!." Young tone rang in the air with a powerful roar. Blood splattered eyes flashed to Otem as she flung the body on her back. Her maw picked up Arcta as well before flying into the air again. "Look what you did. You killed it.... " Crimson wings glided over the large tree. She had to act now. Her body landed with a soft thud in front of the herd. She let the body rest on the ground at her hooves. Tears started to fill her teal orbs. "You did not even know it was there....." Sparks showered from her body with nerves. Wings clutched her body, but her legs remained ready to run. FUCK this adrenaline was a fantastically deadly drug!

another mind, another soul, another body to grow old.
it's not complicated.

Everything happened so quickly that to Otem's racing mind the roar of the specotes occurred in tandem with the branch falling onto her wing. At first the girl was too disoriented to do much of anything - the sounds were deafening around her, and as the herd moved steadily forward the ground seemed to pulse to the same rhythm as their furious bellows. It was Castiella's call to her that finally snapped Otem out of her reverie and back into the fray of the charging herd, and as comprehension slowly dawned on Otem, so too did the pain that fluttered maliciously up the left side of her wing and into her shoulder joint.

Flying out of this wooded area with a wounded wing was now going to be quite the challenge.

Look what you did. You killed it....
Otem scurried around the fallen branch to spy her accomplice in this mess with the dead body of a specotes' calf on her back.
You did not even know it was there.....
"Oh you idiot!" Otem groaned under her breath, despite the fact that the sparking-filly wouldn't be able to hear her words. "They're going to think you killed it."

Surprisingly, this sudden turn of events had a rather odd effect on Otem. She was scared of course; the autumn-marked child had no desire to die in some stupid Lion-King-esque stampede, but one thing Otem was learning about herself was that not only did she hate to be wrong, she hated to be misunderstood. That this herd of creatures might now form the opinion of her that she was a predator and a threat all thanks to Castiella's stupid antics made Otem want to throttle the girl.

Otem's mind recoiled into itself, trying to figure out something that would both placate the herd and ensure her safety. She very much doubted she could get the specotes to drink one of her potions, and without the ability to easily fly over them, she couldn't even douse them with it. Creating plants had proved ineffective, so there was only one thing left to do...

Were these creatures in anyway superstitious? She was about to find out. As she conjured her magic, the name Uwaritace filtered unbidden into her thoughts. The word seemed to try to pull her attention towards the massive tree, but the girl's focus was too sharp to be swayed quite that easily. Two earth sprites appeared before the girl. Although Otem had no idea what this magic could do here in the Rift, she could instantly feel the limitations this place had put on her. She was somehow certain that if she tried to send the sprites too far ahead that her magic would lose its control of them. That meant Otem would need to keep pace with where she wanted them to go.

Taking a breath, Otem barged out from behind the massive tree with her two ethereal sprites in tow. The creatures wavered about 1m ahead of her, their silent faces calling to the herd with mute words.

"Put that baby down!" Otem hissed as she tried to make her way towards Castiella.

Oh Otem, sweet autumn child, you may hate to be wrong; but in this you are completely right. Castiella with all her swiftness and fast thinking does not help you in this situation. Alone a child of nature, such as yourself, might have excelled in this event, but oh how The Rift enjoys what your “friend” gets herself tangled up in. Castiella is the land’s favourite out of you two – if a land could have favourites that is.

The herd halters just in front of the two girls. The lead bull bellows at the sight of Castiella with the dead calf, he does not speak her language and cannot know what truths she speaks. But before rage takes a hold of the herd again, Otem and her sprites waltz up in front of them. The animals are visibly unsure of the ethereal beings. They back away slowly, nostrils flaring red and pink chins wobbling. A cow in the back of the herd bellows a low, sad tune and the rest of the adults starts singing with her as they back away into the dark mists. A requiem for their lost child.

Soon the song dies away and you girls are alone with the casualty of your mistakes…

Castiella

Black ears pinned to her skull when the bay woman shouted at her. Her teeth almost snapped at the girl, but she didn't. Cas stood quietly. The ugly creatures charged at her. The white mask of her skull flashed a smile when they came to a halt. The tears stopped flowing. Warm salt water did not fill her teal eyes anymore. She had already flung the body off her back before Otem yelled for to do that. She giggled slightly looking over to the girl. What did the bay think she was going to talk to her like her mother did? Maybe Cas should have left the girl here to die. Her Cheshire smile dripped across her masked skull as the girl came closer. The sparking girl was not scared of these things, she could fly away. Unlike SOMEONE...

Maybe it was Castiella's intention to stir the herd up more maybe she wanted to piss the beasts off to see what they would do. With the fallen angel no one could ever understand her. She watched with a smile as they looked at the dead baby, then something odd appeared in front of them. Her masked skull tilted slightly as her features twisted into confusion. The herd lowered their skulls and retreated. Chuckling brightly she turned to look at Otem."Well that was fun..." Her deviant voice trailed off as she began to turn away from the large tree. "How did you do that? I can only form electric doves.." She mumbled ignoring the whole event that just unfolded in front of them.

crimson flecked orbs looked behind her to make sure those fucking things were gone for good. This milky tresses flicked over her sparking haunches as she turned and smiled back a Otem. Her heavy wings lifted to stretch in the air. A rare peek of the blood knight marking flashed in the damp air. She smiled thinking of her father. Her mind flickered back to the few moments before all this happened. That large black and white stallion that came to Otem's defense. "That stallion, you know the black one with the white face? Is he your father? ." The girl tilted her head with curiosity. "Mine died before shit hit the fan..." Her blood splattered orbs looked ahead again with a cold expression. Her voice was monotone, and very unnatural to the rose colored girl.
