you lose yourself

trying to hold on to nothing

Her teeth clenched.  She doesn't usually get angry, but the four-eyed beast calling her soft?!  Her nostrils huffed, swearing to herself that she won't back down the next time she stumbles across that....bastard.  She will show him a new meaning of soft.  Just because she doesn't want a war between the Riftians and the Helovians, that makes her an enemy?  She let out a scream of frustration, her sated walk speeding up to a pounding trot. She needed...well she can't have what she needed.  She hasn't been so emotional since the day her world exploded.  Usually she can keep up her facade of grins and chats.  She can walk around the Rift with a greeting for any who wanted it and a story to tell.  Today she sulked with her head low, ears back and an unusual frown on her maw.  This, this is the sight that most would run from.  A strangely glowing and spiked creature with icy eyes that could bore holes through your soul.

As she traveled, her mind raced forward, trying to come up with something that could make the Riftians understand.  These strangers...the godkillers....are stuck here.  Many don't want to be here, and she hasn't met one that has attacked.  Maybe their experiences were different. Maybe her encounters were the lucky ones.  She thought back to the brother that said he was stranded in their world.  Even he didn't want war and death.  He could've spoken up more.  Maybe help when the giant ass of a man got in her face?  Well, so much for loyalty among natives.

She slowed her pace.  This part of the forest ended with ominous cliff faces.  The air grew colder the closer she got, more heavy with wetness that she couldn't tell if she was wet from the humidity or from her own sweat.  She looked around.  Not spotting anyone, she sat on her rump with a sight, her eyes filling with tears.  If she can't convince the others...if she can't even vent, then what?
