"THE NIGHT IS DARK AND FULL OF TERRORS."

The fae had been following them - these strangers.  Their arrival had certainly been unconventional.  Sidhra had seen a lot in her years, even though she was considered young for her kind.  But seeing equines of all shapes and sizes pouring through a portal and all but shattering any semblance of peace had been something new.  The Rift seemed to recognize these...intruders.  It certainly didn’t welcome them warmly.  It was then that she began to understand who they were.

These must be the godkillers.

The Helovians did not hesitate to spread out through the Rift.  Sidhra found herself curious about these invaders and the home they had come from.  Curiosity seemed to be a trait inherent in all faes, but the little blue mare had developed a healthy dose of self-preservation.  She was wary of what these newcomers were rumored to be.

The evening was early for the fae to be awake. Evening was akin to her morning, for the little mare was very much a nocturnal creature.  However, she did hold some appreciation for the time that the Helovians would call twilight. She wove her way quietly through the rainforest, relying on her enhanced senses to avoid any encounters that were best avoided for the time being. When she found a comfortable clearing, the fae stopped her flight through the trees and finally slowed.  She knew the lands well enough that she could make a hasty escape should she find trouble here, but finally curiosity got the best of her. Overlong ears tipped forward and the little fae waited to see what would emerge from the trees.

God damn right, you should be scared of me. Who is in CONTROL?

It did not take long for the girl to start adventuring out on the land. Her bodice glowed with the sparkling light, and she was off on an adventure. Castiella was unsure if Akriel would follow after the portal experience. Her chest dripped this black liquid. The sore was open, and it has not gotten any better. In one way the girl was angry, angry because she was not flawless anymore. Black flowers trailed behind her growing where the black shit dripped. She had tried killing them and trampling over the plants, but they still grew. This is just fucking peachy. Her blackened ears pinned against her skull. The blood splattered orbs glowed in this eerie neon light. Blood wings clung to her side, and an ominous glow came from her sparking bodice. Akriel would have a heart attack in this weird land. He was weird looking after the portal as well. She giggled to her self-thinking about his appearance now. She would rather deal with a black hole in her chest instead of a kitty cat shadow. At least the hole in her chest was scary, EXCEPT for these damn black flowers. Her eyes narrowed on the bushes that were growing back flowers. What the fuck...

As she was moving through the brush thorns smacked her rear legs. Her head flung around to look at the white and black stained pillars. Twisting her head with confusion, she was bleeding. Do not get her wrong she knew what blood was. The crimson red liquid that coursed through her veins that is the typical definition. That was not the case here. Her banded masked skull twisted more and more as she watched the white fronts of her legs. It was bleeding, but it was bleeding BLACK. After a few seconds had passed, she giggled and looked to the neon sky. "I could go with out the black flowers, but this black blood is awesome. Thanks, Kaos!" She giggled again skipping through the dense brush. So, if her blood was black does that me her actual heart was black now? Interesting... it was finally the color of her soul. A black heart for a black soul. Flicking her tail with happiness, Cas continued through this weird world.

It began to get darker and darker. So the girl was following the light of her sparks. The arched with excitement as she continued deeper and deeper. Out of the corner of her eyes, she caught glowing eyes watching her. They were all around her. Cas tried to ignore them, but it started to bother her. Her facial features twisted into aggravation and annoyance. What was their fucking problem? Pinning her ears the sparks on her back started to jump and shower her body with angered arcs. "DO YOU HAVE A FUCKING STARING PROBLEM? " Her voice snapped in the air as she continued. The glowing eyes were on their last straw until... Dual tones hooves came to a halt looking at this THING. It was so odd and just standing in a clearing alone. Her masked skull twisted and turned as blood spattered eyes narrowed. Then a smile formed in the corners of her maw. "Hello, are you going to try to eat me? " Giggles slipped from her mouth as pure white tresses of her tail flicked over her sparkling body. Black liquid oozed onto the ground causing flowers to sprout in front of her hooves.

"THE NIGHT IS DARK AND FULL OF TERRORS."

These newcomers had very little respect for the land they now occupied.  The fae flinched as her sensitive ears picked up the sound of newcomers tromping through the forest with little regard for what they may be crushing underfoot.  A frown pulled at her dark lips.  But she did not flee, though concealing herself in the thick mess of vines would not be a difficult task.  However the little fae lingered and her overlong ears tipped in the direction of sound of footsteps.  They twitched and flicked as she soon could hear at least one distinct voice through the trees, though the voice didn’t make much sense.  That soon changed, when the voice became angry and agitated. At the girl’s choice of language, the fae’s ears flattened against her skull.  She took a subconscious step backwards as if she’d been burned by the words.  Anuya was known to use some...less than savory language from time to time but usually nothing so crude.  The fae was surprised, however, at the size of the creature who had produced such language. A mere child.

Sidhra had trouble unpacking the strange social habits of this child, moving from anger to laughter in mere moments. Such behavior was not common among the faes. The little mare cocked her head at the winged filly, giving the impression that she was, perhaps, mulling over the question even though it was preposterous.  After a moment, perhaps a moment too long then would be comfortable for any but a fae, she finally shook her head no.  The tiniest of smiles danced upon the fae’s lips, the mirth evident in her silvery gaze.  The smile slipped from her face as her gaze slipped over the ugly wound that marred the girl’s coat, dripping blood.  Of course, the fae did not know that the black blood was strange. The girl would probably think that fae’s blood was strange too, though hers hadn’t been changed by the Rift.

Surely this girl was too young to be a Godkiller? But clearly there was some anger in her heart, storming through the brush, cursing the world.  Though Sidhra couldn’t hope to understand what the girl had been through, she couldn’t say she was entirely sympathetic either. She did wonder if the girl was alone, or if she was injured. Perhaps caring for Anuya all these years had inspired some degree of maternal instinct in the girl.  Without speaking, the fae gestured to the wound on the girl’s chest and looked back to her eyes, the questions dancing in her silvery gaze.

Well, this odd creature was ODD indeed. Blood spattered teal orbs looked upon the glowing eyes and elongated ears. Well, at least Akriel did not look like this. She chuckled lightly. She would rather look at cat boy then alien creature. Castiella waited for the response to her question. A small part of her wanted the creature to say yes. How much fun would it be to try and get eaten!? She would get to fight and maybe kill something, but she would have a reason to. The girl was always looking for a reason to do something. Her masked skull remained smiling until the odd creature shook its head no. The smile dropped for a minute. Well fuck, there goes all that fun! Her facial features fell to a bored look as her stance changed. She cocked a rear leg and flicked cream tresses over her sparkling haunches. "Well okay then. " She giggled slightly settling her large wings at her side. The thing did not speak to her; not a single word came from its mouth. The masked skull turned to the side once again. This place was getting weirder and weirder by the second. Then the woman points to the wound on her chest. Cas looked down to watch the oozing black liquid. There was a fucking garden growing in front of her hooves now. Black flowers were sprouting up left and right. Rolling her eyes, she looked back at the alien woman.

How in god's green earth does she explain this? She honestly did not even know what this was. The one thing she did know is her blood was black, and anyone who liked botany would love her. Shrugging her sparking shoulders the girl spoke. "It showed up after I came through the portal. This black shit gets all over everything, and it causes black flowers to grow where ever it lands. I guess Kaos wanted to give me a present." Teal orbs rolled as she shook her skull. "It won't heal. " sighing the girl attempted to take a step closer to the alien. A smirk came across her maw as she snaked her spotted neck out. Her head looking closely at the long ears and pale eyes. "I am Castiella, who are you? Are you from here?" Her facial features twisted as the sparks on her back began to rise.

This was entertaining, this might even be fun! She was meeting new people, and look no one was dead yet. Even better there were no squirrels! She giggled again thinking about the fun she had with Galahad. Her body shifted and moved from sitting still. Castiella was one who loved to move and dance about. "So do these glowing eyes ever stop looking at you? They are pissing me off..." Her ears pinned against her skull as she is looking into the shadows. "If you could tell them that they are not going to scare me, that would be wonderful. The damn things will not listen to what I have to say." Her smiling face looked back at the woman. Cas, was becoming the master of so many emotions. She was also mastering how to confuse people. Oh! This is just too much fun!

OH, but there were squirrels still about. Not real ones of course. These squirrels were Akriel's ghost servants. Since coming through the portal and gaining his...odd feline transformation...he'd also noticed that he could talk to his ghosts now. Some were smarter than others but calling up the same ones for specific tasks seemed to work better than new ones each time. The squirrels were wonderfully adept at locating his sister whenever she'd left his sight for too long.

Tiny, ghostly paws scuttle through the humid forest at breakneck speed. One gets clawed up by a predator, another falls into a puddle of something rank but alas, the last one finds her and crawls up her legs to rest on her back. It dances and squeaks its joy at having won the race this time. Having gleaned her location Akriel lets his wings draw him into the air. She's a ways away. Perhaps he could use his new form? The squirrel-ghost's eyes widen and it squeaks its firm disapproval before it poofs back into nothingness.

Now how did this thing work anyways? He tries focusing but nothing happens. Kicking, sprinning, yelling? Nothing. Frustrated, he yells in a rage, and then it happens. A deafening wail fills the air around him and then, with an excruciatingly painful pop, he's nothing but mist. He has to wait a full minute before he can move but as soon as he can he's off, screeching through the air. Oh, it felt so good to be angry, to be wild, to be alive in this form. He catapults through the air, as fast as the fastest speed his wings could carry him, for a solid eight minutes before he spots her and the other horse on the ground.

The phantasm turns and aims for the space between the two. The siren's wail fills the air once more and as soon as his ethereal body touches the ground he turns into a horse again with a similarly loud pop.   Oh, but it still hurts just as bad and he's exhausted now. He stands there, not moving, for a minute but does manage a nod in hello and then. "Well, dear sister, not everyone always wants to listen to what you have to say. Perhaps they aren't even staring at you?" He winks at her before looking to the mare in front of them. His monotone voice is tinged with a pleasant tone, "Greetings, I am Akriel. She is my twin." Never one for elaborations he then remains silent. Castiella's ever present, ever watching, ghostly protection. Well, now with cat eyes, longer white hair on his belly and chest, fangs occasionally peeking out from under his lips, and leopard spots. Can't leave those features out now.

He was late. It was time the colt had been sworn to return in, but he had found something. Leafen starred head dipped down to the strange things. They were small, and black, but their little petals and dainty nature told him they were flowers. Not just any flowers though. He’d stomped on them, accidentally, but then when he’d looked back, though his tracks were in the mud, the flowers remained unharmed. Not only that, but there was a trail of them! So that’s how Galahad ended up here, slipping through the bushes, at times going off to avoid the undergrowth (he was getting used to that), but he followed the trail. It was getting dark, but the colt seemed not to notice. With the flames atop his cuffs, the ones on his back, and the gentle glow from his leg bands, he stayed in the light, much to his comfort. He didn’t mind the dark, just when the dark was on him. True foalish logic.

That’s how he came to be close enough to hear her shout. It was still far enough away that he could make out the female voice. His harks fall back and he draws up. He should turn back. Da would be furious and Ma…oh shit. (He’d heard Casca use that word when he thought no one heard. He liked it, it made him feel older.) But then he was already out here…what difference could it make to be back at dark or after dark? None he thought. Plus the voice seemed to be at the end of the curious flowers.

It was a lot longer to the voices than he thought, plus he had to keep stopping to work his way around overhanging plants. So when the pale colt finally came within ear shot they others were in conversation. That’s what stopped him. Castiella! Akriel! His little heart leapt with joy at hearing something familiar. To know he had friends here. Moreso, Castiella…she’d liked his magic. She hadn’t thought it a curse, or scary- no she liked it! Maybe she’d like his feathers too! The colt skidding around a bush and over a limb before rounding a corner to at last come into the clearing a few feet from the other two, his soft warm glow casting lightly onto the clearing. “Castiella. Akriel.” He says, containing his excitement as he trots to the two, but his smile says it all. It is broad and unhidden, happy at last to find something he knows. Or thinks he knows…Akriel’s mutations, and the wound on Castiella slow him to a walk, and he whispers, “New looks…” It was a hesitant voice, telling of his own opinion of it he asks, “The Portal?”

Then he sees her. The one they’re talking to. An older creature, familiar but strange in her shape. The pale colt draws up, tilting his head. She was beautiful, and regal, drawing on some source of strength to command herself. And her eyes… “Who is this?” He got the sinking feeling she was from Helovia.

"THE NIGHT IS DARK AND FULL OF TERRORS."

The fae listens quietly as the child speaks, her ears flicking and twitching with each and every word. Her attention is only diverted for a moment, by a strange, silvery creature.  She’d never seen a creature such as this in the Rift before.  She inclines her head slightly as it scrambles up the girl’s back and then disappears, unceremoniously in a puff of smoke.  As soon as it is gone, her gaze flicks back to the winged child.

When the girl mentions the eyes in the trees, Sidhra’s brow furrows.  Truth be told, they had never bothered the fae. Did this girl not come from a place where others lurked in the trees, watching the goings-on of daily life?  What a strange place she must have hailed from.  It made the little mare even more curious as to what lurked on the other side of the portal, yet she was in no hurry to ask questions of the girl.  Sidhra was never in much of a hurry.  Perhaps that was a function of immortality, the pace of life seemed to slow considerably when there simply wasn’t any reason to rush.

Sidhra was unprepared for the arrival of the girl’s brother. The sound of the wail cuts the air, and the sensitive fae flattens her large ears against her neck and skull, taking one step back to avoid the intrusive noise.  She regains her composure quickly, looking between the two children with a keen sense of interest but a healthy dose of wariness too.  She’d assumed the children of Godkillers would possess magic, but now her assumptions were all but confirmed.  Perhaps these newcomers really were far more dangerous than they appeared.

Another child arrived, an obvious companion of the siblings.  Sidhra’s silver gaze flicks between the trio. Her great ears tip back, not as a threat but simply in a relaxed motion.

"I am Sidhra." She speaks, but her lips never part.  Instead, the voice rings inside all three of their minds simultaneously.  The voice is soft, quiet, as you’d imagine the fae’s voice to be.  Sidhra doesn’t consider much the pseudo-intrusive nature of telepathy, for such communication is normal to the fae and her kind.

"And yes, this is my home,"  There was a brief pause as curiosity bubbled up in the little mare, "Is it very different from where you come from?"

God damn right, you should be scared of me. Who is in CONTROL?

The fucking squirrels. The rodent ran up her leg, and the bastard sat on her back. Pinning her ears sharply she went to reach around the snap at the ghost. Then it was gone. Well, fuck that means her brother was not too far. Bright teal orbs started looking for the kitty boy. Her gaze flicked to the woman standing across from her. Her face was not amused; maybe this was one thing they had in common. Finally, the ghost form stood between her and the quiet lady. She giggled watching the woman's reactions to Akriel. Blood splattered orbs fell over his growing form. He was turning into such a man. A beast that will soon lust after women, women that Castiella will have to fight away. He was HER brother. He was HERS. No one else could have him. Well, that was a matter she will address when that time comes. For now, looks of hate filled her eyes as he had to say something. There was always something about everything with him. "I know they are looking because who can resist me? Just look at me." She started giggling as she walked closer to her brother. Her head reached to rub against his fur filled chest. She sparkling wings would push against his body if he did not move. Castiella lowered her neck to snake under his. Soft silky tresses of her tail flicked against his broad chest as teal eyes looked behind her with a deviant smile.

Enough of that fun stuff, back to business. Her hooves came to a halt next to her dear kitty brother. Then out of the bush came a voice so familiar. Her ears almost pinned against her skull, but she decoded to smile instead. Galahad came bouncing out of where the damn glowing eyes are. Narrowing her orbs upon one set of bright eyes, she pinned her ears and snapped at the air. These fuckers are relentless. She wanted to say come and get it if you like looking so much! Then she though about giving the disembodied eyes a reason to be looking at her. Well, those plans were flushed away as soon as Galahad opened his mouth. The features on her face almost fell into annoyance, but instead, she chuckled as he said new appearance. "Akriel is my little kitty boy now. The portal apparently thought he would look good with feline features. As for me, Kaos thought he would be nice and make me a walking garden. Glad to see that the portal did not affect you Galahad." Winking at her brother with a small giggle, Cas turned her attention back to the unique woman.

She wanted to scream at her to speak, say something, say ANYTHING, but Castiella stayed quiet. Galahad questioned who the woman was. Blood splattered orbs looked over to the boy while she shrugged her shoulders. Then it happened. There were words in her head? Great, now the fucking garden of flowers from the black liquid on her chest an talk. Just what she needed to deal with, talking flowers! When does the madness here stop!? Then she let her eyes shift to the odd lady. "Is that you? Are you in my head?" The sparks rose in confusion. She wanted to yell at her and say, GET OUT OF MY HEAD! Instead, Castiella just went with it. Soon her question was answered. Sidhra lived here; this was her HOME. The strange woman asks if this place was different. Castiella giggles, but she was almost on the verge of a full blown laughing fit. Her eyes wanted to roll, she wanted to shoot a dove up the woman's ass for asking such a stupid question, but Galahad was here. She HAD to be nice. So, she just sighed. "We are from Helovia. This place is very different. We do not have glowing eyes and magic sickness there. This place is very different." Okay, she was doing good. So far Cas was happy with her self. She giggled looking over to HER kitty brother, then to Galahad.

SHE, responds to his arrival in her usual mixed sort of way. Sass to his sass but a welcome head to the chest helps keep him up until he's recovered some of his strength. This new magic was pretty cool. Ears swivel to catch his twin's next words even if his brain doesn't remind him to.
"Speechity, Speech, Speech." "I would like to point out, yet again, that I'd much prefer leopard or lion boy or something at least." He snorts indignantly, pah, kitty boy. He was fierce, he was fire! Kitties were just annoying. He turns to the other colt here with a great smile, "But I will agree with Cas that its good to see you friend."

Really though, he'd have to do something to make this more badass and less.....feminine. Maybe he could ask the go- Kaos? Eh, you never know. Maybe something would happen and he'd get to have his magic changed so he could transform into a ghost-leopard instead of just a great ball of fury. He's so lost in these musings that when the mare speaks to them in their minds he just about falls over in shock. Eyes refocus on the older mare before them "Whoa! Thats so cool! Can we speak back to you in our heads or is it just a one way type of thing?" How epic would that be to never have to open your mouth to waste breath on speaking!? Especially when it was just to answer silly girl things or like he could even tell Cas just to each other to like not be angry at the others and stuff. The uses were endless!

Again, he refocuses to correct Cas's last sentence. "Well, it 'was' much different. I'm pretty sure that Kaos destroyed Helovia." He drops his head a bit then, sad, even though he hadn't had time to fully process everything he'd seen. In fact, he was trying pretty hard to just block it all out. Emotions were a burden more than a help for him anyways.

"THE NIGHT IS DARK AND FULL OF TERRORS."

It was clear this trio was familiar with each other, and the little fae’s watched the interaction with open curiosity. There were many types of equines native to the Rift, but since the Gods had fallen many species had become more reclusive in nature.  The fae were not the unfriendly sort, but had certainly stayed close to their own kind when the Gods failed to return.  Her ears flicked forward as she was addressed directly, nodding to the girl and offering her a small smile so as to confirm that it was indeed she whom had spoken.

Sidhra shook her head no at the winged boy’s inquiry before answering his question. “It used to be two-way, young one, but when the magic of the Rift faltered so did some of my magic. Perhaps in time it will return.” She replied, thoughtfully.  She hadn’t even considered this, in all honestly, she had already become accustomed to the new breadth of her abilities, but perhaps as the Rift grew in strength her abilities would return.

Unfortunately, the circumstances of what had happened to their home wasn’t entirely unfamiliar to the little fae.  Something similar had happened here not so long ago, after all.  “I’m sorry your home was destroyed,” she speaks to them both now, and the empathy is evident even in her eerie, mental voice. “This place was destroyed once, too.  It was not always plagued by sickness. Our lands vanished and the Gods faltered and disappeared.  But it seems that the Rift has come alive once again.” Her voice faded away as she drifted into her own thoughts.  She had her own theories as to why that was, but this did not seem like an appropriate time nor audience to share her personal theories with.

“Perhaps you can make a new home here?” The little fae asked, inclining her head ever so slightly.  She knew that this place must seem foreign, but it really wasn’t that bad. And there was much to be discovered here.  She had called the Rift home for many years, and had yet to discover all of its secrets.
