Seek no shelter,
Seek no warmth,
Seek belonging.

The snow fresh,
The cold biting,
Winds rushing through the mountains.
My paws did not sink,
They floated on the snow.
My wings spread,
I felt not the cold,
Not the wetness,
I felt comfort.
I knew that I belonged here.
Deep in my bones,
There was no bitterness,
There was a warm feeling.
I belong here,
In the mountains,
Of the North

The darkness bends around you; wraps its tendrils like curving claws around your body. A talon, rising from the earth, as if to pluck you from it, lift you into the air, hold you to the neon eyes above and examine every inch of you. For a moment, it tightens around your chest, but that expected lift never comes - you remain on the ground. After a second, the shadows pull back.

Nothing's changed.
