A Light to Guide You [SWP] - Roscorro - 01-14-2018 Roscorro
Lights danced upon the fog in the form of hopeful, glowing orbs. Roscorro watched as his own Piece of Hope, bestowed upon him by the god Kisamoa, drifted through the mist. His steps were measured as he entered the familiar walls of the labyrinth, the still fresh pink scars on his chest itching at the memory of the owner of this land. He had encountered the Metus once before, and retained the marks to remember it by. When they had clashed he had tried to share his light of hope with the creature. But it had fled from its touch. Now he was returning, hoping to share that light again, and in some way make up for provoking it.
He had fought to keep himself alive, but he had put himself in the situation due to his trial. Had he a choice he would have never come to this labyrinth and challenged the Magnus Metus. But he did have a choice now. When the Matron spoke of the three lands that still needed their help, he could have chosen another. Taivas and Kiada both chose different routes. He could have gone with one of them, opting to remain beside a friend. But instead he chose the maze. Feeling some strange sort of debt to the giant creature that lurked within mist and shadow. As silently as he had come before, the Clydesdale moved deeper into the labyrinth. Following the path he had taken previously. The path that had lead him to the Metus. Unlike before, he was not alone. Angling his large head so he could take in the other two horses, he gave a smile. Still unable to utter a single word. But his cautious posture should be enough to warn them of the danger. He was clearly familiar with this place. Tossing his head to remove his forelock from his eyes, he continued on, enjoying the feeling of solid land beneath his feet. talk talk talk talk You Can be king again Crappy start to this SWP! But there ya go! Roscorro is currently retracing his steps to where he first encountered the Magnus Metus. Seeking to find the creature that first rejected the light. Roscorro, @Waker, and K'yarie opted to go to the Green Labyrinth after bringing light to the sirens in the thread » In The Deep. RE: A Light to Guide You [SWP] - Waker - 01-16-2018 WAKER
You're in the company of giants.See, this: a small, scruffy Waker, incredibly compact. The Waker doesn't have short legs, per se, but it doesn't look long-legged. It has a short, broad back. Actually, 'compact' is the best way to describe it. Next to the Waker: three giants. The smallest of these giants is long-legged and ram-horned; the middle one is a bit of night-time sky made corporeal; and the tallest is this.. walking mountain of danger, but his eyes are kind, and that's why you trust him. But you feel incredibly tiny, like you're the rabbit in the forest and they're the trees. And besides, you still feel a bit subdued after the encounter with the sirens. The half-healed wound upon your neck has scabbed over, but the dried blood is itching. You're not sure if this was such a good idea after all—you're walking into the lair of the ravenous, with blood on your neck. 'Hey, eat me!' You remain silent. RE: A Light to Guide You [SWP] - K'yarie - 01-16-2018 She ended up following Waker, feeling as if she owed it to the sullen stallion to assist him in their next task. Before she had been unable to help him or Otem, both of whom had come to the Labyrinth, this time things would be different. She listened as the younger mare spoke of meeting the metus and smiled. She being a native knew about the vicious predators that stalked the maze of bamboo and fog. "Not many have heard the voice of the Metus." She said, impressed. "They are silent hunters and do not choose to speak to others. Though few have every actually escaped their claws. The both of you are lucky to have gotten away." She directed her last comment to both Otem and Roscorro.
Yes, she had seen the claw marks on the stallion and the way he walked the path into the maze with a cautious familiarity. So she assumed that he had faced the Metus before. The look of surprise upon his face told her that she was right and she smiled, pleased. She remains close to Waker, towering over the dark stallion as she peers into the fog. The lurker has a powerful sense of smell, it would easily hone in on the injury. Looking down at the stranger a thoughtful look crosses her face. "It will smell you, if it hasn't already." She says. stopping. "Would you be okay going deeper in and attracting it with your blood? Or would you prefer we try to mask your scent and track it down by searching the places the two of you have encountered it at? Or I can bate it with my blood. That is often the quickest way to attract The Magnus Metus. It relies greatly on scent and sound to hunt, since it does not posses sight." What ever the case, they needed some sort of plan. Blundering deeper into the maze was a great way to get themselves killed. talk talk talk talk still, the flowers open as she passes and the birds they sing to greet her though she heaves blood. there is grace in a steeple collapsing. K'yarie RE: A Light to Guide You [SWP] - Rift Presence - 01-17-2018
He was dejected, starving, and exhausted. All these futile attempts to simply snare the creatures that creeped into his home had ended with nothing but a hollow burning in his stomach of hunger. Even the other less intelligent creatures of the Rift he used to feed on had stopped coming once they scented the other creatures. He remained, unseeing, but unable to simply hide any longer. What good did it do him anyway? He could venture out and try and find food like the other hunters in the Labyrinth, but Scorch was hard on the Metus. His papery-thin skin sweltered and welted under the heat, and it just wasn’t worth it to him.
He felt as though he’d rather starve to death than face a burning demise. And so he settled himself in his little cave, sitting, not at all prepared to take on those that might venture to him. His teeth no longer churned menacingly, his claws sat limp on the soft earthen floor of his home. He looked the picture perfect version of dejected and emaciated. Ribs poked out of his papery skin, the quills along his spine no longer stood tall, instead they seemed to droop against his back, and he seemed to blindly stare at the wall, despite scenting numerous creatures approaching. Two smelt familiar to him, and he heard them come – yet made no effort to try and snare them. Instead, he allowed them to come and see him as this, to offer whatever it was to him that they had come to do. And he sat, sorrowful. “What do you want?” His voice hissed out as his tongue slipped from his circular snout with the words, leaving them sounding as a sad hiss. He didn’t turn to face the direction he heard them come from. Instead, he remained staring at the wall, his eyeless face boring holes into the bushes and mist. “Talk.” THE MAGNUS METUS The Metus is starving and sad. Otem tries to convince the Metus to take the light, and Pandora brings him a small snack :) RE: A Light to Guide You [SWP] - Roscorro - 01-19-2018 Roscorro
He stopped when Otem called out. Then proceeded to smile in amusement as the girl boasted about her accomplishments. He gave a dismissive shrug when she apologized. No offense had been taken, no harm done. He was happy to differ to the younger mare in terms of the metus. She had faced it twice and therefore had more knowledge. But when she spoke of how she thought he would accept the light, he offered a small frown. He had tried to give the Magnus Metus hope before, and he had fled. The tribrid was not sure that this mission would be as easy as the autumn clad mare thought it would be. But one could hope. Perhaps now that it had had time to reflect upon the feeling the ball of light gave, it would desire it. Crave it. One would never know until they actually faced the Metus.
His gaze traveled to the starry Frisian that had joined them. His face lighting up in surprise when she spoke. How did she know that he had faced this beast before? Oh wait, he had the scars to prove it. Then again, there were probably a ton of long claws monsters in this world. She spoke as if she knew about the metus. Had she met it before? He couldn't not ask. He could not speak. As she inspected the stallion t hat came with them the Clydesdale's gaze turned to him. He was indeed injured. The scent of blood could attract attention. But before any of them could offer any sort of opinion on the matter, a hissing voice reached out to them. His head whipped around, nostrils flaring as he let out a puff of air. Storm grey eyes instantly feel upon the sad form of the once great Metus. His heart, pounding in fear a second ago, now ached. He had taken part in bringing this fierce creature so low. But he had no way of aiding it. he couldn't simply so out and kill another animal in order to feed him. If the Magnus would even accept such an offering, the wanderer could not bring himself to take a life. He stood beside Otem as she addressed the Metus, not at all afraid. Then her owl descended with a meager offering. Doing something the brown and orange dragon-kin could not. It was laughable how small the mouse looked before the massive creature. It couldn't even be considered a snack for this massive hunter. A silent as he was before, Roscorro waited. Watching. talk talk talk talk You Can be king again ooc: Rosco be standing beside Otem, ready to react if the Metus lashes out at her. RE: A Light to Guide You [SWP] - Waker - 01-20-2018 WAKER
It's difficult to remain bitter when the world does its best to prove you wrong, and maybe it's for the best. You're not particularly interested in becoming a bitter creature, but at the same time, you're not particularly interested in denying yourself the right to feel either. So, silent, you move along, listening to the night sky mare speak of this Metus—and you realize you have no concept at all of what you're heading towards. What you've visualized is something like a vicious bear, or something akin to Kisamoa—the only kinds of monstrous beings you know. You don't want to call them monsters, because monster is a state of the mind, not a state of the body, so monstrous will have to do.Then, Night Sky turns to you, and you tilt your head towards her, eyes bleak. "I'll be fine," you state, firmly, despite the tired note in your voice. You're basing this statement on the fact that you have wings, and this place—whatever the hell it is—seems to offer you somewhat of a getaway. It seems to mostly be made up out of broken, tiny trees and fog, reducing it to what's only a few feet away. If the Metus overruns your company, you can leave them. Not saying that you will, actually, do that, but you can. Hence, you have the possibility to be fine, despite your blood. But Night Sky's concern touches you. You don't exactly get any further though, because a cave looms out of the fog. Tentatively, you head towards the entrance, following Otem and Dragon Man. In spite of yourself, you're curious. You sense the confusion and surprise in those around you, and the former replicated in you. This thing doesn't look particularly dangerous. It looks thin and starved and dejected, and absolutely, fantastically horrible. Tall and narrow, built for two legs rather than four, it has no discernible face, and a long snout full of vicious teeth. You stare. You're pretty sure it won't notice—it has no eyes, after all. Otem speaks, and you listen. An owl drops a terrified mouse. "Are you hurt?" you ask it in the silence following Otem's plea. RE: A Light to Guide You [SWP] - Rift Presence - 01-21-2018
The Metus remained staring at the wall for what seemed like a lifetime before the voices reached him. The first voice to speak was the child that he had met twice before and been taunted by. A gruff sigh slithered through his circular lips as she spoke to him. She spoke of giving him a ball of hope and he nearly laughed at the idea. He scented the dragon-like man as well as a few that were unknown to him. His lips twitched slightly as he inhaled to speak again. “The dragon tried to gift it to me before.” He announced, tiredly lifting his large claw to point in the general direction he scented the creatures in.
But after a few moments, and her explanation, he shook his head slightly. “Do not return. Your scent has kept my food from approaching.” He added in, a snark little quip to his voice as he moved to stand. As he did so, a sound of an owl approaching with a trill caught his attention. Immediately, he tilted his head toward the creature, feeling the thump of something landing on the earth. His predator instincts took over as his clawed hand reached out and snatched the wounded mouse, lifting it to his circular jaw and swallowing it still half alive. It helped little to quench his thirst, but he still managed a small nod to the direction of Otem before he turned to face them all. Waker spoke, and to it he laughed a hissing sound, his tongue extending and lashing out briefly. “Simply starving.” He growled, his hands clenching and releasing at his sides. Suddenly, the Metus got an idea. Blindly, he reached out snatching an orb from those gathered. It split in his hand and continued to send him that strange warm feeling of joy. His papery-thin skin shuddered with the feeling, but there was no going back now. He lifted his hand to his snout and swallowed the orb whole. After a few moments, and a couple hiccups from the orb refusing to go down, he sunk to the ground again, his lips forming a strange smile as he began to glow. “Thank you.” He offered them, looking positively comfy and glowing in the dark light, content to lay on the stone floor and stare at nothing but enjoy the feeling that swelled in his stomach. “Talk.” THE MAGNUS METUS The Hope has been spread to the Metus!
