N/A
- Agender (identify as both or neither gender)
- Biologically female.
- Classify as hippocamp
- Coat is a mixture of very dense fur (like on a seal) and scales
- Gills allow Illunga to breathe under water indefinitely
- Bioluminescent dots line the main body, trail halfway down the legs and line the outer edge of each fin
v - Main body color is a deep bluish black color, roaned by rosy purples that extend along the top line and out across the fins. - Each scale has a subtle gold finish, that only really show when touched by light - Body is roughly two times as long as it is tall - The body is crisscrossed with many dark scars - Needs to come ashore to give birth - Full name is addressed with family name before given name ; ie Toska Ilunga - Omnivorous, with a preference for kelp and seafood
Elegant and refined with slender body and large, flowing fins, Ilunga is beautiful and know it well. Ze takes great care of hir body and enjoy decorating it with little trinkets and finery, but often find that the effect often take away from hir natural splendor. A fully grown mare at the height of hir beauty and power, hir body has the slender look of a mature woman who has yet to carry a child to term, filled out by honed muscle rather than fat.
On land, Ilunga moves with the clumsy slowness of a seal or perhaps a walrus (not a likening that would endear them to anyone) and could not be considered any kind of threat at all. Once in the water however they become a full-bodied athlete, possessed of speed and grace, easily able to keep pace with dolphins and small whales. The water is hir true element, where they are the most healthy and at ease, and the times when ze leave the ocean behind are rare indeed.

Ilunga is a Bantu word referring to "a person who is ready to forgive any abuse the first time, to tolerate it a second time, but never a third time".
Vain, arrogant, elitist, xenophobic, a compulsive liar and rather quick to take offense, Ilunga has many flaws and faults. If given any choice in the matter they prefer not to consider them too closely and would much rather focus on their positive aspects. Like how loyal they are to those they love, and how dedicated to the things that interest them. Ilunga consider hirself a protector, but of what ze has not quite decided yet... that which ze consider hirs, at least, and it encompasses whatever space they occupy at the moment along with anyone they have taken a liking to. As a general rule Ilunga is patient and try to keep an open mind, but hir nature is not a forgiving one and ze will hold grudges for a long time, even when circumstances would make it wiser to put differences aside. Once angered or slighted, Ilunga becomes a dangerous person to deal with, with no scruples against violence and an alarming thirst for blood.

Born and raised within a colony of other hippocampi, hir home lay in glorious underwater caverns amidst the Riptide Isles. Their forefathers, it was said, were the children of immortals that hailed from a place beyond the Rift. The affinity for extended lifespans allowed their kind to survive despite the low birth-rates but their numbers were always low, and as such the community was close knit and every individual was taught the necessity for independence as well as cooperation. Rank was an important factor for her people. Everyone had their place and their specific tasks to perform, and it was tradition for offspring to follow in the wake of their parents.
Ilunga was raised among the upper echelons of the colony. Hirs was a family of scholars and warriors, in charge of history and lore and of safeguarding their people from the many dangers of the sea. From an early age ze was taught to read the currents and the winds, to predict storms, to ward off sharks and placate the monsters of the deep with offerings and to recite the family lines of every major clan so that ze may keep the blood pure. Once ze grew fast enough to swim in pace with the best ze was granted the right to carry the izala, the traditional white spear of the ancestors, and it became hir constant companion.
It was a happy time in Ilunga's life, and for all that the Rift was dark and dangerous it was everything ze knew and could ever wish for.
But three years ago, everything changed. Foreign deities broke through the dimensional barriers and wrested large portions of land away from the Rift. Some bartered and pleaded with the Gods, some lied and deceived and yet others simply took whatever they wanted. Ilunga was unable to do hir duty that day and was forced to watch helplessly as hir islands were wrenched from the bedrock and sucked through a portal, scattering the colony until none remained but hir. Alone and without a home, the four Gods dead by the hooves of foreign powers, Ilunga watched with mounting despair as the dark taint overtook the mainland and crept ever closer to the coast.
But what could ze do? For all that ze knew none of her kind had survived, making hir the last of hir kind... and without the power granted by numbers, ze was powerless to prevent the decay, even had ze known what to do.
