This darkness was fun.

The petite, snake-like girl danced in the neon fluoresce—it made her pale ivory skin gleam in a myriad of colors. And the filly found it quite pretty; and the cold drain she felt in her barrel the longer she lingered near the colorful lights tickled! A peal of light laughter split the shadowed air.

She shook her small body vigorously against the tickling sensation (that, indeed, was her magic being sucked dangerously from her small form), before skipping away from the hungry neon lights. An ear flicked backwards, head turning as she didn’t hear the tell-tale slither in her wake, “C’mon, Joka!” Her light, airy, playful voice called to the lagging cobra—though there was a strange edge to her youthful call.

Yet the newly hatched snake was still in the mossy earth; his small, shiny, mottled pale yellow and black scales moved rapidly over his many ribs. Dark black eyes were glazed and distressed.

But the filly didn’t seem to notice (or, perhaps, care). Instead, she stomped her front hoof harshly, sharp thorn of hoof digging dangerously into the soft soil. “I said, come on.” Her dark blue eyes glittered menacingly.

Twinning time?! :D

It's Askari who sniffs her out. The pup is chewing contentedly on a bone from his most recent kill, his back paws spread adorably out behind him and his overlarge ears pivoting happily upon his tri-coloured head. Mbwana grazes lazily next to him, the colt's tail swinging around to smack away the more persistent of the flies, when his pup suddenly leaps to his paws and begins to bark at the top of his lungs. The bulky youngster flattens his ears and bares his teeth at his bonded, which is usually enough to send the whelp into a whimpering fit of anxiety, but not this time. The long, tufty tail is wagging so hard Mbwana thinks it might come loose, and the pup suddenly sets off at a full gallop through the trees.

Whinnying his fury at his companion's blatant insubordination, Mbwana launches after Askari in a flurry of mud and heavy hooves. The pup's bond with him alternates between strong and weak these days, ever since they came through the Rift together - Askari still fears his bonded's wrath, though, and accepts him as leader of the pack. For him to disobey and run off despite a command not to, then, is quite unusual, and Mbwana begins to grow concerned that the pup may be turning wild as Nguvu had. For all the contempt he treats his companion with, the colt knows that he wouldn't be able to cope with losing him - he loves the whelp, irritating as he can sometimes be.

He bursts through the trees to see Askari down on his forelegs, his backside up in the air in a comical play-bow. Mbwana squints to see the source of the young dog's attention, and unleashes a huff of alarm as he sees that it's a snake. "Askari, get away from that!" But the pup ignores him and dances closer to the deadly cobra, yipping and growling playfully in a clear invitation for the serpent to join him in a game. Silently fuming and contemplating what painful punishments he can devise for the whelp, Mbwana begins to advance on him....and that's when he sees Vulia, in all her savage glory.

"Sister!" he booms, moving forwards like the predator he is. "You are alive." He'd worried for her when she hadn't appeared at the family meeting; she is strong, of course, but he'd questioned whether she was stronger than Kaos. Of course she is. She is here, and the snake that Askari is persecuting can only belong to her.
